This was our first visit to this relatively new spot in the restaurant rich Huntington area. Local word of mouth and several positive local reviews prompted the visit. My wife and I and the friends we were with do not enjoy the high decibel level that seems to be the new norm at most at most local restaurants so we generally do not go out on weekends. This visit was on a Tuesday night and we were rewarded with a very pleasant overall dining experience. The dining room was about half full and the noise level was acceptable, w... read more
Nice place in a quaint town , excellent service, great food something new in the area
The food was excellent, our server was extremely attentive and made great suggestions. The dining room is beautiful but loud, difficut for intimate conversation. I also thought the tables for two along the wall were much too close, felt more like a table for six. Overall I was very pleased with my experience at Sandbar and I will return.
Tuna Tartar was amazing as was the Lamb Shank.
It has an upscale yacht club atmosphere; but it must be very noisy when filled. The steak sandwich was very tender & the omlet with goat cheese & raw onion was outstanding, especially with proseco. The coffee was rich & delicious. I thought the deserts were OK, but overpriced.
Sandbar is becoming a favorite of mine in the area. Quieter on a Sunday night but still the same excellent food and service as on previous visits.
Contemporary "fresh" clean decor - White with pictures of sailboats on the water - Apropos, as it is not far from Long Island Sound, though not within view of it. Staff is welcoming, nice menu options; only complaint, waiters need some training. Diners should not be reached across, & plates should not be cleared until all diners have finished. Otherwise, slower eaters become uncomfortable & feel rushed.
This was our second visit to Sandbar and we brought friends. We will all be back again.
we have followed the chef from Mirabelle to the new location in the hotel in Stonybrook and now to this restaurant. The food was very good. It was missing a true vegetarian dinner but the fish was excellent and the oysters were superb. The restaurant is beautiful, the wine list a little pricey but they had a good pinot gris from Oregon which we liked very much. Desserts were not inspiring but we shared the orange tart which was OK. The restaurant was suprisingly not very full for a Sunday night, maybe because it had just sta... read more
