This review is for Schweigers at Broadway and 55th Street where I've been a client for six or seven years. I've always liked my dermatologist there, Alison Santhouse; however the last treatment I received, something called Levulon, was very badly handled. Santhouse & staff were completely unaware of how to interface with my insurance (Medicare & AARP Supplemental Plan F) and the company representing Levulon. I've came an hour before my schedule time so my son will be seen on time. I was not seen for 3 hours. Horrible waiting time. If I schedule an appointment why not be seen around that time.

Up till this point, I had been coming to Schweiger dermatology for years with last minute appointments for cortisone injections when suffering from the occasional breakout. No longer. I called in to make an appointment for an acne facial about a week prior to coming in, and confirmed my date and time with the concierge on the phone before putting it in my calendar. Try to push you to use a specific pharmacy rather than the one you want. They probably get a kickback from the pharmacy.

Not a fan of this place. For starters if you want to book an appointment you never reach the office directly, instead you reach a foreign call center that offers you an appointment almost 6 months out. I wouldn't recommend scheduling with this office if you need immediate care! Plus side is the staff in the office are better than the ones over the phone.

And too add to my prior review, their costumer service sucks. It's nearly impossible to reach your PA after your treatment is done.

I went for a very simple procedure my prior dermatologist did twice. I needed a small fluid pocket behind my ear drained. I told the assistant, who brought in the PA, who quickly looked at it and injected it with antibiotics. My insurance was then charged for an injection and draining that never occurred. The PA also seemed more concerned with my "acne", which was entirely invisible to me, and discussing options for any other aesthetic concerns I had. Marianne Pistilli, the P.A, I saw at the E 55th St. office of Schweiger Dermatology, who was the only medical person in the office at the time, should never be allowed to see or interact with patients. When I attempted to ask basic medical questions she became belligerent to the point of yelling, shouting and compulsively interrupting my efforts to ask basic questions. I went to see a dermatologist for some spontaneous acne problems. I ended up waiting for about an hour to get a visit from a very rushed-looking NP who did a cortisone shot and an extraction. My face-time with this person spanned only 3 minutes. Subsequently, I was billed over $800 for this "office visit, injection and skin removal surgery" which I ended up paying a couple hundred dollars for because my insurance could only cover so much.
