The billing is often incorrect, and takes several calls to correct. Once, my Dr actually corrected it for me because the billing team was so unresponsive. Today, I had an appointment for a microneedle. I arrived and the front desk had me go to 3 different people to check in. They told me that I could have my appointment while I filled out tons of paperwork for their new software. I filled it out and turned it all in. This place is a joke. I walked in without a mask and the receptionist Martha was completely rude explaining I am to provide my own mask with a whole box of mask sitting next to her. I then watched the next lady behind me walk in without a mask on and the same lady Martha was delighted to hand her over a mask. Not one receptionist has ever been nice or polite. Do better. Treat people better.

Extremely terrible communication and customer service. My daughter is a patient of Dr. Hoesley and went 2x already to see him for her lifelong eczema condition. Being her new doctor, he prescribed medications that did not work for her and caused severe adverse reactions. After her first visit with him, the medications prescribed caused red skin syndrome. When I opened the Yelp page to start my review I was not at all surprised to see the current rating. The medical care, nurses and doctors I have seen here over the years have all been great. Dermatology is absolutely a science but there is some art to it as well and I feel the doctors here get that. I have had some skincare concerns that I have been working through over several months and am finally seeing results. 3 month wait to see Dr. Morales for an annual skin check and a couple of areas I thought needed to be addressed (previous basal cell carcinoma). I filled out all required docs sent to me via email ahead of time, which they said would help with wait time. I confirmed appt. via text as asked...twice. Office called to re-confirm and asked that I arrive 20 minutes early as I was a new patient. I arrived at 9:05 for a 9:30 am appt. No paperwork was required to fill out as I had already done so. When my beloved dermatologist retired (Dr. Carson Kent), I was at a loss as to who I would go see next. Dr. Carson was such a special guy to not only me, but my entire family who he treated.. He had always worked for the California Skin Institute and I followed him around to every clinic he worked at including the Gilroy location before he retired for good. I called the California Skin Institute, on Samaritan Drive, to schedule a routine check up. I spoke with Tony, who was very pleasant and professional. They had availability next week which I thought was great! Unfortunately I had to call to reschedule my appointment and I spoke with Tony again. She was very helpful and had no problem getting my original appointment changed to a time that worked for me. I was very pleased.

I keep coming because I believe they are really good at what they do in terms of traditional dermatology and that is most important. However, the front office is typically unpleasant, don't answer the phone etc. and timeliness of honoring appointment times really poor.

I would not recommend CA Skin institute to anyone going through a stressful "diagnosis" but Dr. Lusby is wonderful (hence the two stars) the front desk staff seem to enjoy making people wait and when you finally do get into a room they argue with you about why you are there and the doctors do not take their time discussing important issues that the patient may want to discuss, like me.
