Another great dinner at Ela's. One of our favorite dinners places on Hilton Head
This was our third stop of three while in HH and our least favorite. To be fair, we were influenced by the obnoxious group of 3 people seated next to us after we arrived who had had too much to drink before sitting and continued on with more throughout our time next to them. They were loud from the start and never toned it down. We have been to ELA's before and enjoyed it. While the wait staff was good the food was not worth the money. My husband had what was called Lobster Bisque but it was more like thin tomato soup. I had lobster ravioli and could neither taste or see any lobster. We asked for standard not high top seating but we were put at high top seating. I ordered the pan seared grouper. The nicest thing I can say is that it smelled rancid. Even the server agreed. I was really looking forward to this dinner, but unfortunately, I will not be back.
The manager, John, ruined our experience. I’ve seen multiple reviews that mention him and his attitude and I’ve thought about how to write this review for over a month. I have been coming to Hilton Head since I was born. My family owned in Wexford and Shipyard. This was a new experience that I have never encountered on the island. Our waitress had a party of 20, was unfriendly through the whole night. If you have a party of 20, leave the other tables to waitstaff that cares about those tables.
Worst grouper we've ever had...overcooked and tough. Vegetables overcooked. Cold mashed potatoes. Beautiful view, but skip the meal!
Wasn’t impressed with the food for the price I paid
The view was nice but the restaurant itself needs a refresh. I ordered sweet tea which was a canned nestea and not fresh made. Who doesn’t have fresh sweet tea in a supposedly “fine dining” restaurant?? I ordered a filet ($54) to be cooked medium. I received the filet well done. Yuck! On the positive side, I will say it was the best sautéed spinach that I have ever had. I will not be returning here.
