We have eaten at Ela’s many times and always have had a great experience. The food and service are always wonderful. This time, we decided to try brunch….a big disappointment. Service was inconsistent. Part our meal came: eggs and bacon, without the toast..had to ask three times for the toast from different servers. Our server finally did bring it to us, with a little bit of attitude. I understand that businesses are struggling, and that help is hard to come by, and we are all doing our best to do what we can, but it is a tw... read more
Quality, portion, presentation of food fair in relation to price. Scalops 4 very small, poorly presented
This is Applebees on the water
Eggs overcooked. Roll burnt. Not what usually expect from this restaurant.
We were so looking forward to Ela’s after hearing positive reviews but we were disappointed. Some of the main dishes listed on their menu on Open Table were not listed on the menu in the restaurant, so we did not get to order what we were looking forward to. Also they’re supposed to be a good location for sunsets but there was no way to see any even from our outdoor table.
What a bad decision to waste a vacation night and money by dining at ELA's. From the start my Manhattan was so poorly made I should have not accepted it but hoped our experience would get better, it didn't. We were shown to our table by a gentlemen that dressed as if he was working at a dive bar which should have given me an indication of things to come. The specialty flounder dish was over fried, burnt and barely edible. The flounder dish was one of my low country favorites in Charleston and the reason I booked ELA's. The s... read more
Waitress was nice but she was over seated (3 tables seated right after us). It took 45 minutes to get our drinks and bread. Dinner FINALLY arrived almost 2 hours later. When we spoke to the manager, he stated that due to rain, outside diners had to be moved inside which affected the waitress. Although I understand that might present a problem, it’s not My problem as I’m still paying $50+ per entree. The manager did take $10 off per check but honestly, that doesn’t equate to a drink as they’re overpriced. Suffice it to say, w... read more
One of the most expensive dishes on the menu… short ribs was half fat. The crab cake which they are famous for was hard and had fillers. The only saving grace was the Chardonnay wine. Very disappointed with the quality of the food.
Beautiful views and very good service were the highlights of the meal. The crab stack and tuna tartare were lackluster. The grouper was nice, but overpowered by the lobster sauce. The seafood scampi, we believe, was the problem. Both my wife and I were plagued by significant stomach issues starting about 30 minutes after the meal. Even if it didn’t make us ill, the bucatini was too starchy and overpowered the delicate seafood.
