It was my birthday and U had said so upon making my reservation we sat near the water and the waitress continued to forget about us
We just didn’t find this restaurant to merit the rave reviews we read. Our waiter did his best but was not able to be attentive given the number of patrons he had to serve. My salad was drowned in dressing. The seafood bucatini would have been great if there had been an adequate amount of seafood- half of the mussels were empty, and the scallops were miniscule. I normally do not leave a negative review, but I sent an email to the restaurant directly so they could respond, but I have not heard from them after 4 days. We went to Ela’s for a special anniversary dinner while on Hilton Head. We requested a table outside which we received. The night started out fine, but before our entrees were served our waiter came to our table and took our empty water jug. Assuming he would return it filled with water, but it never happened. Waitress did not offer cracked pepper for salad, we ordered martinis on the rocks and no rocks, green beans were raw and she offered a substitute
It’s over priced for what they provide. Sub par steak and seafood dishes. The drinks were ok.
It is not as good as the reviews they have. It is just alright.
Flounder was supposed to be roasted, came out looking like it had been baked and was cold. Drinks were weak at best. Server was not attentive at all had to get up to go find some one to get the check after waiting 20 minutes after finishing dinner. Atmosphere was great had high hopes for this restaurant but was completely let down.
Sadly this visit did not turn out well. Our server was extremely slow, and it seemed to get worse as the meal went on. Don't know if it was because we were seated at the bottom near the water, or what, but this was very unusual for Ela's. We finally had to ask a busboy to have our server bring the check. We had wanted dessert but were too annoyed to wait any longer. We will be back because we love this place, and hope this was just a one-time glitch.
Disappointing. We had reservations for outdoor seating. We were seated but were not noticed for 10 minutes or so by our server until we told who we believe was the manager. The server apologized and said she didn’t see us. She said she was surprised that they sat us at a table that was not prepped. The light above us was out and the candle unlit. We asked to be moved.
