Do not recommend. Crab cakes were overcooked and all breading.
Shrimp excellent. Sauce too hot. Flounder was overcooked. Poor presentation. Wait staff likely had too many tables. Been here several times. Might have just been an off night for the kitchen. Rest of the meal was just average for the price.
This was a very disappointing experience. The food was terrible, the soup wasn’t even hot. I was in the middle of my salad and the bus boy took it away when I wasn’t looking. Our waiter was inattentive and unpleasant. We were sat at a table and where the flies swarmed us. We asked to move and she acted as if it was an outrageous request. Save your money or go to chipotle, anything is better then this place.
My husband and I are new residents’ of Hilton Head and this past weekend decided to celebrate our wedding anniversary at Ela’s on the water. Unfortunately, it wasn’t the experience we had anticipated. When we ordered our entrées, they were at our table within five minutes. The restaurant is in a nice place with good views of the marina, however that is about the only positive thing I can say. Once we received our meal, everything began going downhill. Two members of our party ordered the surf and turf. The steak was extremely gristly and the lobster was dry. One member got a filet, and it was also very gristly. I ordered scallops which were good. Without a doubt one of the worst meals We have had in a long time. If I could rate it less than 1 - I would. Our dinner was supposed to start with a celebratory glass of champagne which I had called and requested in the afternoon. This did not happen. Appetizers were a hit and miss - Caprese salad arrive without mozzarella - when we inquired of the server if this was indeed their standard Caprese salad we were told it was. Arrived for our 7:00 pm reservation. The table didn’t clear till 7:20. I think it would have been better to have ordered everything right away because we were still sitting waiting on our entrees at 8:30. Beautiful view of the harbor but only for so long. Food was okay.
We were very disappointed in the service. Food was over cooked and the server didn’t come by and ask how things were. Waited long for nonalcoholic drinks. Waters were not refilled. Had a birthday person with us and no special service for them. Had the flounder special (2) and both were well done and dry.
Nice venue, terrible food. Two fish entrees at $35 each were dry and had obviously sat in a warmer. Tastes were muddled and on par with national chain food. Server could not answer reasonable questions about menu. I would not return for dinner. At $35/plate expect someone can cook better than me.
