We decided to try Ela’s for my wife’s birthday, thinking we could have a nice dinner while we were on vacation to celebrate. The atmosphere was nice as it is right on the marina, and the lobster nachos were a fantastic appetizer. I highly recommend them if you visit. From there, things went down hill and fast. I ordered a $52 Ribeye, expecting to have a nice steak for dinner. I ordered it medium-rare and arrived with my wife’s dinner cooked medium well at best. I harm, no foul, mistakes happen and I would be happy if they si... read more

We were not pleased. Dinner took 3 hrs!! Waiter was very nice but had too many tables to handle. Grouper was way overcooked. Very nice location, but food was not great. Too many better places on HHI to go. Doubt we return.

We were excited to dine in Ela’s knowing that the ambience, water view and seafood were going to be excellent! All of that is so true! However, I have never been so rushed during a special occasion before! The food came out too quickly! And, we were asked to leave our table for the next diner within an hour and a half time! Our reservation was for 630 and we were back in our car by eight only because we were rushed. This was my birthday celebration dinner. Needless to say, I was extremely disappointed in how they handled wha... read more

Excellent food. I was shamed into wearing a mask, which is something I don’t do. It’s not about safety anymore. It’s about control. Frankly it ruined my meal. If these restaurants don’t stand up for their rights they will be empty before long. You can only keep the American public ignorant for so long.

Average at best....we go to ELA’S every time we visit HHI and it has been one of our favorites. Perhaps things have changed since Covid but our meal was average, salmon and steak both overcooked and their prices have skyrocketed. I have no trouble paying for a great meal but last nights meal was not worth the cost. We were disappointed to see things took a turn for the worse.

What is usually an exceptional experience was less than notable. The hostess had the personality of a turnip. Our seating offered a view of a broken chair outside the door and pots with dead plants and a piece of ventilation. The service was dreadfully slow and entrees were delivered incorrectly. My cocktail tasted like tap water instead of a vodka tonic. The only thing that allowed this rating to be two stars instead of one was a sampling of good crab cakes and filet mignonette. Hope for a better experience that may be in s... read more

Our steaks were overdone as we ordered them medium and the price for the poorly cooked meat was a little over the top.

Unfortunately, this was a bad experience. Half of the staff was excellent and the others were horrible, including our waiter. He was rude, never checked on us, or asked about the food....which was bad. There was a singer/guitar player there who’s singing was SO bad it actually made it entertaining. Hopefully people are just trying to get back in the swing since Covid. So, I’d wait a bit to go...but I shouldn’t get better seafood inland than coastal SC.

We went last Saturday for bday dinner at Ela's, so looking forwrd to the evening. To be honest, the dining experience was a disappointment. I had the grouper (overcooked, dry, very hard to eat) which was recommended by our server. My friend ordered the short ribs (just not fall off the bone tender). Love the ambience, Shelter Cove's yatch basin is beautiful, but the evening's celebration fell flat due to the substandard quality of the meal.
