I rarely leave negative reviews, but my experience with Stress-Free Auto Care in Menlo Park was bad enough that I feel a responsibility to share it. I brought my 2010 Prius in on November 3 because the engine overheated, the car shut off while driving, and the check engine light was on. Their inspection noted that the coolant reservoir was empty and even recommended a cooling-system pressure test to find the leak--but that test was never actually performed. The bill they gave for additional repairs was over $4300. When my regular mechanic did the job not all the things mentioned needed to be done. My bill from my regular mechanic was ,$1770.00. that's a huge difference. I will not be returning.

The hourly rate is very high. Also had I known parts could not be gotten on a Sunday then I would have waited till Monday and gone to my other mechanic. The staff is great but this was not a good experience.

My experience was anything BUT stress-free. Matter of fact it was STRESSFUL from start to finish. Brought my car in for a simple noise coming from my engine, thought it might be the AC unit, but was unsure. So made an appt for 10am dropoff. My car proceeded to sit outside until nearly 3pm. After 2+ hours of diagnosis & UNNECCSARILY EVACTUATING my AC freon, they called to say they need another day or so of diagnosing my vehicle, claiming it had multiple AC leaks & other issues they'd need to look into, to figure out where the... read more

I don't recommend this shop at all. They charged me $3700 for a simple coolant leak but they didnt fix it - even though they had my car for over a day. less than a month later, the coolant was still leaking. I filled up the coolant myself but A month later, it was till leaking badly But "Stress Free" (what they oddly call themselves) was Useless to help repair the cost without charging for labor all over again. They should be called Stressful Auto Care

I'm back to a low rating for these guys. I originally provided a low rating about 4 months ago, they reached out and then resolved the issue. That low rating was around communication issues. Now the same type of issues are occurring again. I emailed on Feb 18-25th with them. My spouse brought our Toyota Matrix here to have two door handles replaced (among a few other things checked). I was fairly shocked to learn that the price for the repair for the door handles was over $1700! In addition to the price being much higher than I expected, they replaced all four door handles (one that they broke themselves while looking at the car and the other front one that was unbroken). I'm actually disappointed at my very first experience here. I took my car in for an oil change on a Friday around 2:30pm. I was told to come back around 5:30. I ended up going back around 4:30. I was told they were waiting for a part to arrive (air filter). I waited until about 5:45 when it arrived only to find out it was the wrong part.
