Both my daughter and I brought animals here on separate occasions. For me, the young, female doctor and female tech were both rude and manipulative about a very critical situation. According to the doctor- with no testing, the dog was dying of mammary cancer and needed to be put down, unless I “wanted her to suffer.” So I agreed that I would rather have her have a compassionate, kind and loving experience. The tech took her back to “prep” her. Several minutes later I was hearing UNGODLY noises lasting at least 10 minutes... read more

I would not take my new pet here .... ever. After hearing what my daughter has gone through, spending THOUSANDS!!!! on her basic domestic pets, just two of them, one for symptoms of lung worms ..... but hey, haven't diagnosed ANYTHING!!!! Do not bring your pets here.

For many years they took care of our dogs for surgeries, day care, and boarding and for these areas they are good. I can not reccomend them to anyone thanks to their terrible billing department. After a hospital stay in boarding for our dog we paid our bill they then called back saying the payment did not go through I provided records showing payment to the front desk I was then told they would let billing know and if there was a problem they would call. fast forward 5 months and I get a call from a collection agancy. When I... read more

I would NEVER recommend sumner to anyone I know... while in the hospital having our baby, my husband had to take our dog in during emergency hours due to her being super lethargic and not eating (she's diabetic). The wait was 4 hours just to be seen, they took her back and left my husband waiting, left our dog in a kennel after checking her blood sugars (she was 600+)...never gave her fluids or insulin, just left her. When they finally got to my husband they said she was in really bad shape and they wanted to keep her for a ... read more

I have sat in this parking lot the last 3.5 hours waiting to be seen along with 5 different people 4dogs 1cat (or something small) be put to sleep. I then read all the reviews because sitting here I had “time” to do so. So will I return? Probably not. I’ll update my comments if my mind is changed whenever they finally see us. 🙄

Business response:

Melissa, we are sincerely sorry for your long wait time during your last visit. We know your time is valuable and can assure you we make every effort to see clients in a timely manner. We are always open to feedback and suggestions from our client so please don’t hesitate to reach out to us anytime.

I’ve taken a bunch of my dogs here and while my first few visits were excellent, my last two have been absolutely horrifying. Aside from Dr. Lui who has been amazing, the rest of the staff needs training in body language, handling, bedside manner, and general listening skills. Let’s start off with the fact that at the last visit, a tech tried to corner my fear-aggressive dog, who was muzzled for everyone’s safety and literally shaking from fear; she then argued with me that it was fine because she was muzzled and can’t b... read more

For any of you curious about Missy and her oral surgery update: I went in to my vet (Sumner Veterinary Hospital) and was guilt tripped into getting some of her rotten teeth removed. Logically I understand that worse issues can be caused by mouth disease, so I reluctantly agreed. When the day came to bring her in, I was aware they would be removing 3 teeth. When I picked her up hours later, I was informed they had removed 6 but "they were all very easy to remove because they were very rotten." I left the vet that day after a... read more
