When we arrived, the line seemed long. However, it actually moves at a decent speed. Once we got sat, a server came to start taking our order. Once placed, items arrive as they are made. Got 2 tacos and a mulita. Everything tasted so good. If even say better than Tacos El Gordo. Definitely a more authentic TJ street taco flavor.
August 1st 2025 I seen this place the last time I went to plaza Bonita and been meaning to check it out for a while now. So I finally got the chance to go with my family after a long day at the beach. There was a line which I expected but when I got to the front of the line I saw a sign that said no togo orders so I asked for outside seating. Once seated the server came pretty quickly. I enjoyed this a little more than Tacos El Gordo since its more organized, a sit down where they take your order, cleaned tables. Portions may be a little smaller in comparison. But, no refills for drinks & no chips/salsa for the table to grab. The fries are sooo good & crispy. Adobado meat will always be my favorite. There was a long line but it went by quick! Definitely would come back
We finally made it down to Bonita for this gem and let me tell you it was well worth the drive! Located on the east-side of the mall, next to the main entrance with ample parking, makes it an easy find. The service was top-notch; servers were friendly and attentive. My husband and I checked out Tacos El Franc last night after hearing so much hype. If you're reading this, you've probably heard that they're Tijuana- based and Michelin-recognized. Located in Plaza Bonita Mall in Funky Fries and Burgers' old spot, Tacos El Franc is a freshly-renovated spot with a bit of a strange service model. First time trying Tacos El Franc. Ordered 2 adobada tacos and one suadero. Wasn't a big fan of either taco. Service, They didn't give me salsa or limes or napkins with my order. The ambiance looked ok. I will give it another try and dine in instead.
Everything about this place is amazing! Where to begin: we came on a Saturday around 3pm and were happily surprised to see only one person ahead of us in line! I'm so excited we go to try this place during their recent opening month. I was hoping their downtown san diego location would be open by the time we visit but woe is me, the only thing setup was the storefront with a sign. We arranged an Uber to try this place out as it's supposedly rated the best tacos in TJ and Michelin recognized. I will go anywhere for good food! Yum tastes just like the one in Tj. This spot is Michelin Star and on Netflix Taco show. Great service. You come in and they sit you. Then you can order and someone will bring you your tacos. I got 2 carne asada tacos and an adobada taco. To wash it down I had a Jamaica. The adobada was full of flavor and even had a lil spice kick. It also came with a lot of the meat sauce.
