Finally made it out to Tacos El Franc, overall the experience was not bad. We were sat down promptly, the music and ambiance was pretty good. The waitress and food service was faster than I was expecting. I tried three different tacos and an agua fresca everything was delicious. The waitress brought us a plate with limes, radishes, and cucumbers while we waited for our tacos. I tried a carne asada, taco de cabeza, and an adobada taco, all came with different salsas and all delicious. The salsas are spicey but not too hot but... read more

Hi, Austin. Thank you so much for leaving us a stellar review!
When we heard that tacos el franc was opening up in Gaslamp we kind of did not want to go. But after a quick yelp search we saw that there was one at Plaza Bonita. So yay, parking is not gonna be an issue here! We've gone for lunch twice within the past month. Enter through the mall and wait to get seated! They have an outdoor patio so we brought our dog with us. A server will come to your table and take your order. THEY ARE QUICK! I ordered the suadero (beef brisket - my FAVE here), asada, lengua, and adobada. All the stea... read more

Hi, Rona. Your feedback is highly appreciated. Thank you for the review!
I went here when it first opened and if you haven't been recently is definitely worth going back. They locked in the unique and amazing flavor of the original TJ location. The food is amazing. I usually eat 3 tacos but, I destroyed 6 without even realizing. The service was fast and thier was no line which was nice. The ambiance has always been great and they did a great job capturing the feeling of the original but, modernizing it.

Hi Ethan! Thanks for your review. If you ate with us when we first opened we invite you to come back. Our kitchen staff is now now matured and developed in the art of “The Taco”. I’m sure you’ll be impressed when you visit us again. And THANK YOU so much for taking the time to write this review.
I went in fully expecting Tacos el Franc to be another over-hyped mall taquería, but honestly? It was pretty good. The tacos are genuinely tasty -- I ordered my all-time favorite, taco de cabeza, and it was on point: tender, steamy, perfectly seasoned, with that rich, melt-in-your-mouth texture you want from good cabeza. No skimping on flavor at all. My only real gripe (and it's a big one) is the size-to-price ratio. $4.65-$5.65 for what is basically a "street-taco-but-smaller" feels steep, especially when you're still hungr... read more

Hi, Karina. We appreciate the kind words and are glad we could provide you with a positive experience!
Get the Lengua! It's so tender and juicy. While a bit on the pricer side for Mexican food, it is well worth it. The fries were also portioned huge! I got the Lengua quesadilla, which was a bit small, but still delicious. They packed it with so much meat. I will definitely be back to try their other meats and get some tacos. Lots of seating, but a popular place so it can get packed. Service was awesome! The food we ordered came out so fast. It started coming out before the server left our table after we ordered.

Hi, Amanda. Thanks for taking the time to share your positive experience. We truly appreciate it!
MmMmm yummy! Tacos were amazing! This is comparable to el gordos. Service was also great. I ordered the tripa and suadero in 1 tostada along with their adobada tacos and mulitas. Did not disappoint at all! I will definitely be back here more often. And also, did not have to wait in a long line for adobada like el gordos is. God job el franc!

Hi, Ratana. We are thrilled to learn that you had a positive experience with us!
I tried Tacos El Franc here at Plaza Bonita and the food was okay--not bad, but nothing over the top. I mean, they're tacos. Flavor is decent, but I can't really justify paying $4.65 for one small taco. I can get the same size taco somewhere else for $1.95 that tastes just as good, if not better. Overall, it's alright if you're already in the area and craving tacos, but for the price, it just doesn't make sense. It will taste the same as other spots that cost way less.
Easy parking right outside the mall. Recommended from a friend who has visited their Mexico location. Went early on a weekday so no wait to be seated. The restaurant is huge, lots of seating. The waitress was nice and patient while we decided which tacos to order. Food came really fast, drinks were tasty. Would definitely come back if I'm in the area.
