This was my first time in rehab, and I don't think I could have had a better experience. The staff is amazing. The food is awesome - I've never eaten better in my life. The grounds are beautiful and I got to go surfing with professional surfers because of the program. The classes are super informational, and they have a lot of resources to connect you to AA, NA and sponsors. I feel like a completely different person than when I first got here. The Camp saved my life.
I admitted to The Camp in 2021 when I was 19 years old. I came in homeless and not wanting to stay sober. I left The Camp with a home and motivated to stay sober thanks to the staff, program, and the discharge planner, Hector. The Camp had such an impact on my life that I waited 2 years to work there and do what The Camp did for me for others struggling with life and addiction.
The Camp Recovery has potential, but there are significant areas that need improvement. The program often feels disorganized and repetitive, with a curriculum that could use more variety and depth. While it covers the basics of recovery, it doesn't adequately prepare clients with essential life skills for after the program, such as how to apply for benefits, find stable housing (beyond SLE options), or prepare for employment. I came here in I think it was 2013-2014 and let me just say this was the best rehab I ever went too. My medi-cal covered detox for a week which is pretty expensive and 30 days of residential treatment. I met some great people and staff and learned so much here. I always tell people if they can to come here because I had a such a great experience. At that time the food was hella good. Family day was great no issues. My experience at the Camp was challenging at times, there are some aspects of the experience that need improvement, but at the end of the day, this place is amazing. The food is excellent, with 3 home cooked meals being served every day. The staff is excellent, most of them are angels with a ton of compassion and passion for their work. Beautiful, safe place to detox and begin your life again. With proper documentation was able to bring my emotional support animal, my 8lb dog and having him by my side made all the difference in the world for my recovery. Forever grateful to The Camp Recovery Center and all it's staff for getting my family and I through the most difficult thing I've ever gone through. Nearly 9 months later and I am still clean and sober.
as an adolescent it was hard but very useful i am now happy sober thanks to the camp. God bless the camp!
