Camp recovery has given our son a new chance at living. He was discharged last week and is now in a sober living house thanks to the hard work of his case worker and all the wonderful counselors at the camp. We would highly recommend this rehab to anyone. It is in a beautiful "Camp" setting and for those who like the outdoors it is ideal. Many thanks to Camp Recovery and their wonderful staff for giving us our son back!
From first-hand experience I can say without reservation that The Camp is an outstanding recovery program. From the spacious grounds in the redwoods, to the well trained and compassionate counselors, to the professional administrative staff this is the standard against which other treatment centers must be measured.
Camp Recovery saved my niece's life As an alcoholic and prescription drug addict, she was in a tailspin of self-destruction that affected every aspect of her life. We stumbled upon Camp Recovery through a friend of a friend who has stayed sober for ten years since her stay at the Camp. We hung on to hope when my niece (following another DUI) left everything behind in Vegas and made her way home for Camp. Fearful of the unknown, it was comforting to drive up to their lovely, peaceful grounds and a genuine welcome from Yoland... read more
This was my first exposure to the 12-step recovery program and I began to see things in a different way. As the fog lifted from my mind I started to understand what I was hearing. I learned a lot about the nature of my disease and when recovering addicts came to speak I was able to identify myself in their stories. By the end of my thirty day stay I had come to believe that if I continued on the path they had followed recovery for me was possible. My counselor suggested that attending weekly aftercare meetings would improve... read more
Unfortunately, I was never able to go to this program because of financial trouble. But although not being able to follow through with that program, I spoke with Mary Clark who was more than helpful. She took the time to find more programs and resources that would better fit my needs and that would be financially better for me. Called me back 2 days later with all the numbers I could call and still offered more help or information if I felt I needed it. Just by how much care she showed in a few minute conversation really sho... read more
The two one-star posters clearly need their own 12 Step program. Try alanon. Don't blame the treatment center because your friend or family member did not stay sober. It is the nature of the disease. I went through the Camp 3 years ago and have been sober ever since. I am the only one who stayed sober the whole time out of 50 residents - but several of my fellow campers got sober again after a few relapses and have been sober for some time. This place saved my life. Putting someone in a treatment center does not mean they ... read more
I went to the Camp in January of 2007. I was lost, I was lonely, I was needing another way. My life was unmanageable and I couldn't look myself in the mirror without looking at the person I was, while straining to see the person I once used to be. When I first got to the Camp I was welcomed by a staff who didn't judge me. I was welcomed into a community of people who were there to support me. I was allowed to support myself and not be ashamed of who I was. Every day now when I look in the mirror, I see the man I am t... read more
Look, here's the thing about recovery. If you don't want it, you don't get it. Im a youngish adult and went to the Camp 2 years four and a half months ago and guess what? Yeah, I'm still good. Clean and happy. IF IT WASN'T FOR THE CAMP, I'D PROBABLY BE DEAD. DEFINITELY IN PRISON. Period. THEY ALSO HAVE FREE AFTERCARE FOR LIFE! LIFE! FREE! I was as bad as it gets and they gave me the tools i needed to make a new life possible, I will always love that place and what it did for me as will my entire family. Worth every penny and... read more
Camp Recovery saved my life. Just over 4 years ago I came into the program - battered and beaten by drugs and alcohol. I am alive and well and SO much better off today than I ever would have believed possible. I love the Camp and visit my "friends" there often. Treatment works if the person who is in treatment wants it - simple as that. If you don't stay clean - don't blame the treatment center - blame the disease and the fact that the person who relapses didn't work their program after they left. It works if you work ... read more
