Based on all of the rave reviews about the Commodore, perhaps we were expecting too much. The service was brusque and not very informative. The food OK; good for the more moderate prices. The art deco decor is indeed beautiful especially in the lounges . We had reservations and were in the dining room. When we go back, we'll plan on sitting in one of the lounges. The Commodore does have a parking problem. There are numerous signs in the parking lot about contract parking so we assumed there was no parking for the restaurant.... read more
Cool, charming, vintage, very St. Paul. Nothing like this across the river.
My book club gathered here for cocktails and dinner because we had just read the New York Times Bestseller Z. This fictional story about Zelda Fitzgerald built our interest in the lifestyle of the Fitzgeralds. Walking into The Commodore made us feel as though we had traveled back in time. Incredible experience!!
Excellent food and great prices. Extensive wine list. Very attentive but unobtrusive service. Beautiful dining room.
never been there, was very impressed. everything is 1st class!
The wait staff was exceptional in service. Place was hopping and had a great vibe. Food was fun and delicious

We went with another couple to celebrate birthdays and retirements. Beautiful restaurant and bar. The food was excellent. We loved the lobster deviled eggs. Drinks were also very good. The atmosphere is romantic. As we left we noticed the bar was a very busy spot. We will definitely go back again.
We were seated next to a large group celebrating a birthday. So our waitress was preoccupied much of the time with this large group. They were also very loud - screeching at times even. To compensate, we received a free dessert. Our food was excellent - we had the lobster deviled eggs as an appetizer and they lived up to the hype. I had a pork scaloppini and my husband had the rib eye. Again both were excellent. The creme brulee was also very good. The only sour note was with the Moscow Mule. First of all, I was surprised it... read more
