Found veal tough and not worthy of the price. Were out of standard menu item at 8:30. Common food quality did not justify the prices. Lacked attention to detail. Had to request olive oil on table.Non attentive service. All in all poor dinner , and between 4 of us not one plate was satisfying. Tourist may buy into it but my quests were very unhappy with the quality . 20 years ago it was fine dining. Now its just a tourist trap. Would not take my guests ever again.
Although the place was packed, mainly because it is across from Carnegie Hall, it really doesn't say much for the food. The antipasto selection is not as varied as it's sister restaurant- cafe Fiorello. The sausage and peppers was hard and chewy. Really not good at all. The so called burrata is not really burrata. For the main course I had veal Marsala. Talk about tough! The scallops were thin enough, but from what part of the veal were they cut? And the sauce - like brown gravy with little diced mushrooms out of a can with ... read more
As a regular diners at full service restaurants in the Carnegie Hall area----we have multiple CH subscriptions, I am sorry to report that Trattoria Dell'Arte is at the bottom of the restaurant list. The service was chaotic with little coordination between server and kitchen. Courses were served out of order. The food was pedestrian at best. An appetizer of octopus and calamari was mostly a slice of bread smothered in a gelatinous out of the can tomato sauce. A ravioli course had spent too much time under the infra-red and en... read more
36$ for a plate with only slices of veal and sauce! No veggies at all! You have to order potatoes or veggies as side dishes at around 12 or 15$ each! It was good but 141$ for 2 with only a half bottle of their least expansive wine: this is exaggerated!
I feel that this an overpriced restaurant with average food
Food was fair. Waitress was great. Despite reservation we were sent to a room in the basement which was dirty and had uncomfortable wicker chairs. Decor in that space is of much inferior quality as main restaurant. Big disappointment.
Their appetizers are sorry at best. We ordered mozzarella with avocado thinking that this will be something worthwhile. It was a hunk of cheese, a hunk of tomato, and a hunk of avocado. Why are you not embarrassed to serve something like this? If I have to do all the work what is the chef in the back doing? The henesy drink looked like something taken out of the toilet. Taste and the kick was good but the look wasn't appetizing. Their lasagna was BURNED. Why was this even served to me? I can burn lasagna at my own will. It h... read more
food arrives within 4 minutes of ordering and was obviously pre made and re warmed. very ordinary, not much flavor, table much too close together - we had to move the table each time to go to the washroom. they take advantage of location, near Carnegie. would never return
Our flight to New York was delayed and we didn't arrive at the Trattoria until a few minutes before midnight! We had called Paul and asked if that was still ok and he was most supportive, understanding and accomodating. My duck steak was wonderfully prepared, the Italian chardonnay was wonderful and the glass of prosecco to calm us down after a frantic ride in from Kennedy was most appreciated. Our Irish waiter was super, I have his name on our receipt but dont remember it just now. We will be back on each to New York Thank ... read more
