First meal we had few weeks ago excellent so we decided to go back. Big disappointment. Chianti wine this time sour and not same as we had first time here, beets in beet salad expectantly heavily salted and gorgonzola cheese in the beet salad was tasteless, bread was overtly stale, veal was pounded so hard had pounding marks all over it and tasted like cardboard, piccata sauce with the veal was tasteless, caramelized onions with liver not caramelized and sliced liver floated in plate of brown tasteless gravy, roasted potatoe... read more
Good for a lunch or pretheater/show dinner. Food is good. Service is good. One caution - if you're wanting to sit, savor, and converse this is not the place. You will be rushed. Too many tables in too little space.
The food was pretty bad! The best part was my glass of wine and the focaccia while I was waiting for my entree to arrive. The menu is very limited. I really wanted to order a pizza ( which I have had before) but it was not available with my 7:00 pre-theatre reservation. It's unfortunate... because my pasta with eggplant parmigiano was so ridiculous. Heavy, drowned in sauce and cheese ( like bad old school Italian-American food from a borough restaurant). My cousin's entree with lump crabmeat had absolutely no flavor, enough ... read more
Although the location can't be beat, the food here was expensive and not good. Not much else to say. If you need a place that is close to Carnegie Hall, this will do it but be prepared to pay a lot for food that you don't like.
Mediocre food, for the price. Tourist trap.
Pleasant restaurant, greatly over-priced.
Overall good food and good service but way overpriced.
Went here because cafe Fiorello was booked. We were td this was a "sister" restaurant with same menu , etc. Ambiance was great waitstaff friendly and efficient but the food was awful. Whoever thought of putting an anchovy in top of a burrata needs some serious Italian cooking tips. Plus the pasta dish I had was lukewarm at best. Worse than cafeteria food. I will never GI there again it reccomend it to anyone. Too bad the location is perfect for Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center
we arrived for our reservation and found ourselves waiting on a long line for a table. when we got to the head of the line we were told that we had to eat upstairs I was not happy but with Carnegie hall in an hour we had no time to change restaurants and we proceeded upstairs. the room was dark and gloomy the service poor and I was brought the wrong appetizer and the Maine courses were without the promised sides!overall we paid to much and received too little.
