Somehow this place managed to bring out food 2 minutes after we ordered....AND it was cold! Service was okay, ambience was blah. Prices are insane. $18 for a side of cold brussel sprouts served in a 1" deep dish the size of a CD. If you're going to a show across the street, find another place to go. AVOID.
Food was just OK (the seafood pasta was barely OK). We were just unfortunate in our server who lost interest very quickly when he used the wrong language to greet us after hearing where we stayed. Having eaten in trattoria dell'Arte before it is usually better - especially at the bar.
The restaurant is terrific. It's one of those rare restaurants where everything works with the kind of effortlessness that belies the deep fact of their pervasive know-how.
We've eaten at Trattoria Dell'Arte many times, but last Saturday night the place was so busy & the service was terrible. We had a 6:00 pm reservation & were seated immediately. However, we didn't see our waiter until 6:20. We told him that we had an 8:00 pm show. There too few waiters for the number of people in the restaurant. The marathon was the next day. The restaurant should have anticipated these crowds. I had pappardelle with eggplant parmesan. What I got was pappardelle with tomato sauce & a few bits of eggplant mixe... read more
I was very disapioting with this restaurant. I had the Tordelli bolognese and it was totally tasteless. When i asked the waiter which wine he would recommend he pointed at the most expensive without blinking. Alltough they asked if we would upgrade our table for two to a better place in the restaurant.
Restaurant was freezing cold with air conditioner blowing on the table where we were seated. Kids pizzas were fabulous. Other meals were marginal, received meal and it was cold. Dinning companion did not receive the correct meal, waiter never checked back to see how everything was.
Is a known name restaurant that have many years in Manhattan. We use to go for dinner many years ago. This time we decide to try again and we are disappointed,..the menu is not extensive in pasta and tipically italian food,...the portions are regular poor and prices are more likely from an french, sofisticated and expensive bistro. The pizzas (4 choices...) at $30 dollars is a joke,...you cannot compare with the ones that can get on street for only $7.....!!!,1 pizza, 1 ravioli, 1 ice tea, 1 glass of the cheapest wine and 1 ... read more
Myself and my wife had dinner here on Wednesday, September 10th 2014. My wife had a crab dish which she was delighted with. I had a veal dish 'Milanese Veal?' which was about $50 and was appalling. Imagine several slices of veal dipped in bread crumbs, overcooked in a frying pan and finished off with clump of Argula. It was dry, tasteless and unimaginatively dressed. I would have walked out only that my wife enjoyed her crab so much
Overly salted food, but the worst part was the bait and switch. A glass of Riesling was ordered, a glass was brought, "try it" said the waitress, "is it okay?" "Yes" was the reply. "Well, it isn't Riesling, we're out of it." Not the way to treat a diner. Hosts too chummy. "Are you local or from a far away place?" was the greeting. Obviously, locals are not valued. We won't return.
