Not enough staff to handle the crowd. Very expensive. Noisy. Chaotic
Very loud and very close tables. Request a booth. Service is fast but not great. Feels like a tourist trap. Food was fair at best
Main course was chicken parm. It was overcooked and slightly burnt. The restaurant was crowded and noisy. Lot's of people going to the threater. I would not rush back to this restaurant. Also very pricey. Not worth the money.
We were there years ago and had fond memories. This time, a very disappointing dinner. We had their fried artichoke, which was listed as a house specialty. If you're ever had fried artichokes, then you know how wonderful it can be. Unfortunately, theirs was greasy and tasteless. We had their real veal, veal parm. Also disappointing. Oh well...
Went to Trattoria Dell'Arte for Thanksgiving dinner. Service and staff were very friendly and helpful. Restaurant was not real busy - since we went in to an early dinner, so it was quiet and the ambience was nice. We went to the restaurant for the purpose of having the Thanksgiving plate, which was $70 per person. It's not that the food was bad, but it was not anything to write home about. And, granted that we are not from New York and accustom to NY pricing, but we left feeling that paying $200 for some turkey and potatoes ... read more
We had eaten there several times in the past, most recently 2 years ago. The food was not the quality of previous experiences and the waiter forgot part of our order. He tried to make it up by giving us complimentary desserts which were very good, but overall it was a disappointment.
The server was very good, but she convinced us to try an Italian wine. We prefer new world wines. We explained that we wanted a full bodied wine, but the wine she brought was so thin and light. It had no flavor and we did not finish it even though it was $100. I don't get the rave reviews. Maybe we ordered the wrong things, but we did care for the food. My husband ordered some antipasto items that had flames next to them indicating that they were served hot (broccoli rabe, mushrooms, kale and beans), but all were served cold... read more
Cons: Extremely overpriced Ambiance of a cheap diner Food is bland and overall subpar Waitstaff is smarmy Pros: Located across from Carnegie Hall.
Honestly, I'm never impressed with the food, only the service. It seems like your Grandpa's place. The food is "OK" at best, the decor is so dated and while I know it's a powerhouse lunch place, I just don't like it. It's not bad, but it's not good, either (to me).
