We expected a more adult atmosphere where the ambiance and setting would be more quiet and peaceful. Instead it was very loud, crowded and not to our liking. The food was ok, but nothing to write home about.
Our family was in NYC for a long weekend. Trattoria has always been one of our favorite spots when we come into town. Our family of 5 ordered a bottle of wine, appetizers and dinner. The wine and appetizers came out in a timely fashion. Our dinner arrived approximately 55 minutes after our appetizers. Tables all around were being served their meal that had ordered after us. We were told the kitchen was backed up, our dinner would be right out. The food was good, not great as we had come to enjoy in previous years. When your ... read more
Hmmm.. Well, my girlfriend raved about the place and we were looking for a somewhat spontaneous and delicious meal. Unfortunately, the one thing that my gf had so wanted was not on the menu anymore. It was a dish that was always raved about, so unsure why it was off menu. Our waiter offered to see if the kitchen could make it, but returned saying they didn't have the ingredients. Beyond that, our waiter seemed completely distracted the entire night. Slow and inattentive, it was disappointing. At one point, even though they s... read more
I had been to this restaurant several years ago and I though the food was great and the atmosphere was happening. But its lost something. The food was uninspired. The pizza was actually bad - yucky crust, sparse toppings. We didn't come close to finishing the dishes - but no one wanted a take- home bag - not even the just-graduated-college kid on a budget. Its a big restaurant by NYC standards and more than half the tables were empty, which makes it feel a little sad. The one good thing was the service. Excellent waitstaff- ... read more
On Saturday night, I was seated promptly in a lovely booth in the quiet back room. The service was attentive without being obsequious and the food was uniformly excellent. Based on that experience I came back again on Wednesday -- it was like going to 2 completely different restaurants. On Wednesday, the place was a madhouse. Although we asked to be seated at a quiet table, the noise level was deafening. The service was careless; we had to remind our waitress several times about everything. The bread was rock hard and, when ... read more
We have had paste is many of the highest rated Italian rest in NY and very few charge or warrant $30 a plate....and without any doubt Dell' Arte will never reach their level Unless you are looking to be overcharged and underwhelmed skip it
Grossly overpriced for mediocre food. Outrageous pricing on specials wit no warning. $47 for 2 soft shell crabs. Extremely noisy. Overly warm greetings with handshakes. Fit for suckers. Ordered calves liver which came diced and tasteless. Would never return
The host was very impolite, maybe because he was looking for arrange a table for a couple of friends of him. When we arrived he didn't want to look for our reservation and he only did it when showed the email where was confirmed.
Have eaten at Trattoria many many times over many years. Have always appreciated the welcome, the service and the great food. This time however, the terribly poor service left us quite disappointed as my bride and I were entertaining family. We have always referred people to Trattoria, and hope this was an isolated incident.
