We actually walked out of the restaurant on Monday night. It took forever for someone to take our beverage order, it took even longer to get the beverages and then when we were placing our food order, we were told there was a problem in the kitchen and they could not make any of their signature veal dishes. We asked the manager to come over- he never came. So we walked out of the restaurant - -found the manager who indicated he had no idea there were any problems! He did nothing to attempt to make us happy that evening. His ... read more
I went to this place because of the general good reviews it has and because I was looking for a great lasagna before leaving the US for a while. Epic fail! I got there, and after we had ordered, the waiter came to us and told us they didn't have lasagna, which happens to be their specialty. They ran out of pasta for the lasagna. How come they don't plan to have extra pasta inventory of one of their main dishes? They didn't even try to make it up. It was a little bit crowded yes, but nothing crazy. Service was a little bit sl... read more
Had been there in April of this year and had the best Veal Parm that I ever had. I went back the week of the 8/22 and ordered the same. The veal was tough. My grandson agreed with me too. I was very dissapointed. My friend had ravoli with beef and lamb?. It did not taste good. I will not be returning.
Our service was terrible. The food was fair, at best. However, the desserts were wonderful.
Crowded, loud and not as I remembered. We were tightly seated at twi top at the banquet between a table of six very loud diners and way too close to another couple who constantly listened to our conversation. Should have changed table but too late. Unfortunately waiter was impatient and couldn't articulate over the din. And even worse, my husband and I couldn't carry on a proper conversation. Pappardelle was limp and tasteless. Tuna steak was amazing and the mozzarella is always a must. Too touristy and loud for me--won't do... read more
The Location is great, near Carnegie Hall and Central Park south- but they use it to be attractive for tourists because out off the fact the food is not tasty... the waiters were low motivated; no recommendation;
I went to the trattoria with business associates for lunch after having bragged that it served the best chicken parm in the city. I had been there months ago, and several times before. No one could finish their dish. The portion was a s big as usual, which I expected, but it seemed as if it wasn't freshly prepared as it usually is. Also, they added pepperoni to the chicken. Why? this is no longer the classic dish that it used to. I don't plan to ever go to the trattoria ever again, and I don't think that my associates plan t... read more
I've had a half-dozen excellent meals at Trattoria Dell'Arte, but not on my most recent visit. I felt like a sardine, sitting only a few inches from people to my right and left. The place was incredibly noisy. The service was adequate, assembly line-like. Drinks were good but expensive ($15 each). Pizza was quite ordinary, salad was good, the lasagna was dried out. My wife and I were happy to leave for the relative quiet of Times Square.
We have enjoyed dining at Trattoria Dell'Arte on regular NY trips for over 20 years. This time (late Sunday brunch) was a flop. The first hint was a basket of cold (stale?) muffins. The waiter was indifferent. Some of the food was obviously pre-cooked and kept in a warming drawer until served. How else to account for the clearly overdone sausages? Overall, not a memorable experience.
Trattoria Dell'Arte has a 4.3 star rating with 13,439 reviews.
