Too expensive for what was served. Soup had little flavor. Not enough choice on menu.
We arrived on time, but we were not seated for at least 15 - 20 minutes. The hostess was overwhelmed and it was a circus in the front of the restaurant. When we were finally seated, it took another 15 minutes for someone to take our drink order (and we ordered everything at that time). Our appetizers were brought before our drinks even came. Needless to say, it was not the usual Trattoria experience. Very disappointing.
Disappointing experience. Extremely slow service, over 40 minutes alone between cocktail delivery and the next visit by our server. Requested a quiet table and was seated next to a table that ultimately had a party of 8. Food was very good as always, but service gravely deficient.
If you have a theatre ticket for 8 pm and want an extremely crowded, noisy atmosphere with fair food this is the place for you. You will be out in plenty of time to see your play. The staff are experts in getting the maddening crowds in, fed and out. Is this the kind of experience you want? Remember the tourists are there and the restaurant staff will see them only once. The restaurant management and staff are not there to create relationships, believe me.
Horrible rissotto with overriding taste tomato plain and poor tomato paste ... And. a burned breadful milanese with a shadow of thin "veal" without any flavor, a major league dissapointment...
it was awful and should close..
Been here perhaps more than 10 times in the past few years. Significant considering I dont live in USA and the many options available in NYC. Not sure it was due to the 11pm arrival but, waiter claimed they dont serve shoe string fries when I've ordered always before; the veal parmegiana was tough to chew on and very poor NY steak quality.
We go here every time we visit New York. Not sure if they were having a bad night or what. Waited half hour for our table even though we had a reservation. We were offered a table by the hostess desk which we turned down because it was very crowded in that area. They sat us in the back by the entrance to the kitchen. Then they completely missed one of our entrees. One person in our group ordered a pizza and they brought red snapper. Waiter said he typed it in wrong. We really like this restaurant but not this time.
My husband, daughter & I have been to Trattoria Dell'Arte numerous times, & have always had a fantastic brunch. Because of these previous experiences, I was astounded when we went for brunch...& had a simply horrible experience. It was like we were in a different restaurant! Service was uninspired, food was mediocre to bland...and I was charged $19.50 for a child-size portion of penne pasta that was barely cooked (obviously came from a box), after I was told that a dish we'd ordered a few months ago hadn't been available "fo... read more
