we are two new yorkers and had two italian holiday meals...one at la masseria and one at trattoria del arte. the latter really fell down (the former was delightful). supremely over-priced (now i know why there are no prices on the online menu - i get it..across from carnegie hall so everything hiked 20%) and what you got for the money was barely ok. thin crust pizza? oh please. toppings on matzoh. and as we were led upstairs to the low-ceilinged VERY HOT (yes...we told them..took 20 min for any air to be put on) upstairs, th... read more
A general catalogue of errors, went to take the 5 of us to a table in the upper section at the back... halfway across the full dinning room wait person says table not ready. wait in middle of the tables for 5 mins! cocktail ordered arrived with ingredients missing. air con was blowing down the back of our necks all night 2 of us had to dine with our coats on. wait staff said it would go off intermittently. It didn't. My pet rabbit would of had trouble eating my 'blanched' carrot. my main, Hake was not hot.Pizza was ok but yet... read more
Food was very good. The service was slow, haphazard, inattentive and lethargic. They managed to lose one of the antipasto orders. I'd go back for the food but that would also require suffering through service lackadasicallity. Trattoria Del'Arte survives so profitably because of its location within a block from Carnegie Hall. It would never make it as a neighborhood dive.
The service was incredibly slow and the food was tasteless and lukewarm. I was very disappointed.
I waas very disappointed by my recent meal at Trattoria Dell'Arte. The veal milanese, which was always a favorite of mine, was flavored differently from the way it had been in the past, and the change was not for the good. The texture of the meat wasn't very good either. I'd hesitate to go back.
Service was very slow, food was only fair, Let very dissapointed
Had it not been for the one hour wait for a table with a reservation I would recommend this restaurant. They know how to take a reservation they just don't know how to manage a reservation. A one hour wait is completely unacceptable! The upstairs is unappealing to sit in. The food is good but not good enough to wait an hour to sit down for.
I have been many times and always have had a good overall experience. Based on this, I strongly recommended the venue for an evening meal with business guests from Europe. Turned out to be my worst choice ever- waited over an hour beyond the booked time for table. No longer a good Italian restaurant choice for NYC - no better than what you expect in touristy Little Italy. Noise levels were unbearable and impossible to hold any meaningful conversation. Burrata did not have that fresh feel, pasta was over cooked and not even u... read more
