I have eaten there on a number of occasions and thought the food was very good. On Monday the food was not. We had salmon which was just OK and was accompanied by potatoes with some ingredient that made them green--which was unappetizing and not good. There were no vegetables on the plate. Two nights later at Avra we had salmon and the portion was twice the size of the portion at Trattoria.

Staff was very kind and professional. Food was average, with smaller than standard portions. sat in the wine room with 3 other tables, room was out-dated and in need of fresh paint. not super fancy, just expected more from the place. barely average food, at NYC prices, wouldn't go back. too many other great places for the money. ordered scallops with wild mushrooms, out came 5 tiny scallops on a pile of mushrooms. no presentation, scallops of supermarket quality. we also ordered guitar pasta with shrimp. good flavor, a few u... read more

I have not been to Trattoria Dell'Arte in a few years. It was NOT a good experience. I was with a party of 7. We were originally seated at a table that seats 4-6, so not only were we not comfortable, we were sticking out into the aisles. After being pushed and shoved by customers and staff alike, we asked for a new table. We were moved to a better location. Then we had horrible service. Way to expensive for what you get. My friend and I each had a glass of red wine and shared a simple pizza and a pasta with clams plus one coffee and one tea and the tab was $100 before tip. I couldn't believe and will not go to this restaurant again. I still can't figure out why the bill was so high as I didn't see the breakdown!!

This was my second dining experience at this restaurant. The first was very good, this was quite dreadful. They made just about every mistake in the book, except for the food itself which was excellent. We were seated for a few minutes when we realized the rest of our party had been put at another table at the opposite end of the dining room. Extremely overpriced and not very good. The veal chop which is theior specialty dish was overdone and dry. the pasta sause was very salty. We order a main dish and the waiter suggested we share a dish of pasta as a side but neglected to tell us it was $30.
