I have been to Trattoria Della Arte several times over the past 5 years and this was the first time I was disappointed. Their usually innovative menu was less than inspiring. Their portions have grown inversely with the quality of the meal. While passable, it no longer lives up to the high price tag of its food. Bland, boring and the wait between being seated and eating was excessive.

We have visited this restaurant many times over the years. It used to be "The place to go", close to Carnegie Hall whether before or after a show. The service was bad (despite not being busy and there being plenty of help) I felt like we were a necessary inconvenience to the waiter. The food was ok.

we did not stay. the noise level was unsustainable for a relaxed meal. felt like we were in the bleachers at a football game.

So crowded. The bar scene is so "vibrant" that it spills over into the table areas, hence no place to wait while our 8:30 reservation took until 9 p.m. The restaurant is very noisy, so much so that the waiter had to shout at us and we had to shout back our orders. Despite good food, we won't go back unless it's really late in the evening, when the restaurant clears out, quiets down, and seems more like a restaurant and less like an upscale bus station cafeteria.

As always the food was very good. The service was terrible. Appetizers arrived quickly and then everything stopped. Entrees took 40 minutes after apps and we were not asked if we wanted dessert or coffee for another 45 minutes after the table was cleared from dinner. very disappointing

It took forever for the appetizers to arrive-more than 30 minutes! Even to get water took a while. Food was mediocre at best. The service was blah. And to think we recommend this restaurant to a lot of our guests. I work in a hotel in the immediate area.

I've been going to this restaurant for many years, but hadn't been back in quite a while, and ok it was restaurant week, but service was really lousy. We waited an hour for our appetizer course and when I asked for fresh pepper with my salad, nearly 10 minutes passed when I finally flagged someone down to bring it to the table. I also noticed they were very quick to bring more wine. Very disappointing evening.

Our waiter was awful. He was very smug, arrogant, and had no idea what he was talking about most of the time- to the point that he argued that the menu was wrong (when our food came out- the menu was in fact correct). Yelp gave this place 4 stars, so I was really expecting something wonderful- the flank steak was not a good piece of meat nor were we impressed with it's preparation or the sides. I would not recommend Trattoria Dell'Arte.

this is second time I went to this establishment ... and I was put exactly on the same table all the way in the back room (almost as an annex) even thought there where few tables up front... not going back... This time the restaurant seemed very much as a tourist trap... not impressed...
