The specialty many-layer lasagna was mushy and inedible. The little parmesan rolls over- cooked. Seared tuna acceptable. Tiramisu not memorable. My friend ate a Caesar salad and had a cappechino and we paid just over $80 with the lasagna off the bill.
I've been to this restaurant many, many times over the years. My office was around the corner so it was easy to swing by in the evening. In past years it was a fun place and had good food, but after not having been there in a few years (due to a job transfer) I looked forward to returning. Yuck. Won't be going back. The food was mediocre, the service was below par and the waiter added a dessert that we did not order - and then shrugged it off as though it was our fault. With as many good restaurants as there are in NYC, you ... read more
Slow and rude service. We won't be back!
too touristy
If you are going to Carnegie Hall and need to eat first, this couldn't be closer. Therefore, the staff doesn't feel it has to please you beyond the usual handing you the menu and taking your order. I suppose if you are dining there frequently and paying a large tab then you will be fawned over. I made a reservation for 3 and I was the first to arrive and was shown to a spot on the left mezzanine where the waitress just scooted the 2 deuces together and left. I saw a better table and inquired about it but was told it was rese... read more
The bread it was old,the maitre rebuke me about the tip in front my invited friends!!!!!Incredible!!! The tip is most important than the food????
Having been there many times before, this time it was a rather embarrassing experience almost from the moment I arrived with friends from abroad. Waiter was condescending, food served luke warm, my mussels were tiny and half the shells war empty, the pasta was pasty and lacking in sauce. The finale was that the credit card with which we paid was fond on the floor somewhere between where it had been scanned and our table. We waited for the return of the card for some time..... Used to be one of my favorites but frankly, never... read more
We happened to have reservations just as the crowds were getting ready for the Broadway shows. The noise level was so high as to preclude serious conversations among oureselves. The food was generally disappointing, excessively salty and served so hot that I suspect last minute microwave heating. The friendly service made up for some of the culinary deficiencies
Wait staff with a bit too much attitude and a pizza served cold made what should have been an enjoyable dinner something less than it might have been. Since the restaurant is in the Carnegie Hall area, it's clientele includes regular and heavy doses of tourist trade, so maybe the management doesn't care as much as it should because it knows that it is serving mostly one-time customers. Best bet is to stick to the antipasto bar, which is excellent, or the lasagna -- a signature dish.
