The only issue I have with Uncle Giuseppe's Marketplace in Greenvale is that I've observed 3 employees, 2 of which were food handlers, wiping their noses with their gloved hands, and then touching serving utensils to serve customers, without changing their gloves. For that unsanitary behavior I give them a 1 star rating. If management can change that behavior, I would raise their score considerably.
This is specifically for Uncle Giuseppe's produce department. Definitely hit or miss with very high prices. I often find that the vegetables aren't restocked often enough leaving moldy items. Generally, I have found that the fruit is decent. I purchased Fuji apples there before and found them mediocre at best, but thought I'd give them another try. Mistake. I went out of my way to go their today. went to deli to get fire roasted steak. it was all grey. went to order house made roast beef all grey and dry. ok let's get "house made roast turkey ". specifically asked "is this really roasted turkey or that slimy water based turkey". "no sir house roasted ". got it home water based slimy turkey. not even edible. yeah not going back there again
what has happened to the quality. every piece of fruit and veg was rotten and on the shelves. no ones cares anymore and the prices are insane
My fiance and I usually love this store however our last visit was disappointing. Bagels were tasteless, carrot cake was not moist but frosting very good. Foccacia tasteless also. The worse part is my fiance ordered 2 sandwiches prosciutto, mozzarella and peppers on foccacia bread. We were looking forward to eating our sandwiches. Once we got home one of the sandwiches did not have prosciutto!! We paid $12.99 for each sandwich. I guess the elderly man behind the counter was not paying attention! Lots of prepackaged cooked foods. We got some ravioli filled with. Sheep's milk. Some prosciutto although the staff was upset about the order as they had cleaned the machine. They were open for another hour. They have sfogliatelli from cannoli plus in Brooklyn. The frozen raw ones also. They also have tartufo. Lots of Italian imported items and pasta made with Italian flour. Veggies were not in top condition. The older lady in customer service was so rude. I had been waiting behind another lady who was asking a question, and she completely ignored me. Took another customer and was gonna take another customer right behind me. The only reason I was there is to ask a question as well. I get we all have bad days but there was no reason for her to take it off on a random stranger. Everyone else was very nice and friendly .
Purchased manicotti from their supposed to be fresh pasta section with a sell by date of 8/20, it had been purchased on 8/18. I was getting ready to prepare it when I noticed that it was black. IT WAS MOLD! Absolutely disgusting and not fresh. Never again.
shop about twice a month at Giuseppe's love their products but was disappointed when I purchased their fresh meatballs from the meat dept they contained egg shells in the meat will never buy them again
