Both the service and atmosphere were good. The food however not so much. The Crab cake had shells in it and was not good. The Lobster was over cooked. The chicken was ok but the potatoes were both burned and under cooked at the same time. The shrimp and grits was tasteless and shrimp was over cooked. Every dish was sub par. To be fair, We didn’t give them the opportunity to make it right because it would have taken to long.

We’ve been in South Carolina on vacation for the past week, and this was unfortunately the most underwhelming food we’ve had on our trip. Everything we ate from the appetizers to the main course just left something to be desired. Everything was lacking flavor and seasoning. Veggies were bland and overcooked to the point they were soggy. Crab cakes had shells in them. Steak wasn’t cooked correctly. Problematic experience this time. Got a very short pour on a martini and was told I was crazy. Of course, after I mention this to them I then see three other similar martinis passing our table with full glasses. I guess if you have a captive audience with tourists you don’t worry about locals who could be repeat customers. Very disappointing that they went into denial instead of trying to make it right.

Unfortunately this place smelled like sewage which completed zapped the ambiance. Food was fine but the value versus experience left us feeling underwhelmed.

I really enjoy the early dining Prime Rib dinner. I never had an issue requesting hand cut fries instead of mashed potatoes. The server had no idea what I was talking about. She must have discussed my request with the female manager. The manager came to our table and said there would be an up charge of $5 because early dining menus are very specific to the cost. We stay at the Marriott a couple times a year on vacation and Alexander’s parking lot is always packed! Luckily I made the reservation over a week in advance. Unfortunately as we approached the entryway there was this horrible smell, which was 1,000 times worse when we opened the door. We had a reservation but they must have overbooked because they sat us in an odd spot in the back where no one else was sitting. Our waitress knew the experience was not up to par and gave us a small discount. I would have preferred a better experience. Food is so so. Much better places to eat in Hilton Head.
