We bought a $2,500 TV 2.5 years ago and bought this protection plan (3 year plan). Recently our original TV failed and AllState was attentive and sent a replacement after requesting a few reasonable steps. That’s where the “great” ended. Had a problem which the representative felt could not be repaired and our purchase price was refunded.
I got a refund for the tv malfunctioning, however, I didn’t get the full purchase amount so it’s difficult to find a replacement.
I bought a microwave oven, online, 3.5 years ago from Abt in Chicago. I also purchased the warranty, which I seldom do. About two weeks ago the oven had an electrical short. Initially I called Abt who routed me to Allstate. After I explained what happened the agent told me that they would refund the initial cost of the microwave because the unit probably couldn't be fixed. The conversation did not take long. Worked on the phone and computer for 2 hours getting them info you know hey have attached to your phone number from the store you bought your device or equip. at with item # warranty item # Date of purchase and dollar amounts but they claim they still cannot find my info. My TV stopped working and was unable to be repaired. Allstate was unable to replace it with a comparable model so they reimbursed the full purchase price of the set. I am really glad I bought this policy and I bought a policy for my new set as well.
I was given a few options for my case for a broken espresso machine. either they would find a comparable item and replace it, or they would pay me less money than i paid for the item. I asked them to find a comparable item and they said there were none. I checked amazon and they had the exact same machine but it was now way more expensive than what i originally paid for it. so they didn't want to cover it. so they just send me the check for much less. so if i wanted to re-buy that machine, i would have to pay the difference.... read more
