I've only done one claim and I filed it online. The technician from Maughanst Appliance came out and he was professional. I told him the problem. He said he knew what it was and showed me, so if it happens again, I could fix it. It only took 15 minutes. I'm a technical guy and he knew it that was why he probably told me ‘cause I repair equipment too. He did a good job. American Home Shield was awesome. It didn't take any time at all to do it and they were in and out.
The hot water heater went out. We called to submit a claim with AHS. The vendors came and they said it needed to be replaced. However, the new hot water heaters have different air vents on it than the other ones did. So, the technician had to order it. But he was able to get the old one started. We still had hot water in the meantime. Everything has been fine since then.
I have two air conditioning units. The one on the lower floor happened to not cool down at all. It was pretty much spitting out hot air but not cold. The first time that the AC person came out there, he knew the main cause. The line itself was frozen in the outdoor unit so he did have to come back at a different day as the lines defrosted. We had a plumbing issue. I submitted claim through the app. It was done in a couple of minutes. It was super easy. The contractor came out and got us all sorted out. He was very professional and he wore a mask and gloves. He didn't come with booties, which would be nice, but that would be above and beyond. But he took care of one of the problems with the water heater and he explained to me step-by-step what he was doing to relight the pilot, the things to look out for the next time it might go out. We had an electrical issue regarding the wiring in a light switch. I submitted a claim through the website of AHS and I like the website. The contractor that came out did a great job. He was super nice.
It took a minute but the technician from Ally Air and Refrigeration finally figured out what the problem was and he fixed the appliance. Since then, it works like brand-new.
AHS is great! Within my first year owning a house I've saved thousands due to unexpected issues that came up with my heating and plumbing systems. I highly recommend AHS for new home buyers.
We have used American Home Shield over the years in several homes. The response time is usually next day (we never had a real emergency like a broken water pipe or no heat in winter), but judging by their conscientiousness I believe they would come same-day. They send out another contractor if the job was not fixed the first time, or if it recurs.
I feel good about American Home Shield. $100 is a little bit higher than I expected but they're better than the one I had originally. The tech that recently came out was very professional and I liked him. He did his work and gave me more information about my appliances. It was an issue with the refrigerator ice maker. The ice wouldn't stop coming out the chute. He ordered a part and the part is in.
