Submitting a claim to American Home Shield has been very simple. I had a leak in my refrigerator and their contractor 1st Choice Appliance Repair handled my issue perfectly. Things have been easy going with AHS.
There was a company that used to come to my home to check out the heating system and they told me at that time that they work with American Home Shield, so I got the warranty. Their website is always good. With my previous request, as soon as I submitted it online, I got a call from Gaithersburg Plumbing that they have gotten the order and somebody was gonna be coming. The contractor did fix the problem for my AC unit that was not working properly. There was a sound when we turned the AC on. We went downstairs and couldn't find what was going on with it but there was definitely some weird sound. I made a claim and this guy came to my house and told me that one of the assembly attached to the AC unit inside my house was somewhat loose. He made it tighter and also adjusted the assembly. I had someone come out to check on my furnace so that I could turn it on, and he must’ve bumped something that shut down my water heater. The guy from Allstate Plumbing came out and restarted it, and it's been fine ever since. I like the fact that when I need something, American Home Shield calls their people and they come. I just moved into my condo, and I had a house before that. I would oftentimes set something up with a plumber or a house person, and they wouldn't show up. Our sink upstairs keeps clogging up. The contractor came out here to see what the problem was and he did a very good job but it needed more work than what he could do. American Home Shield called back and they asked if I wanted to go ahead and proceed. I declined because they would have to rip up the wall. I also had a claim for a drippy faucet in the kitchen and that one was completely done. My experience with AHS has been very professional so far.
American Home Shield has been very supportive every time I called them. But making a claim with them is a little different now with the pandemic. You get all the electronics and you don't speak to a person. I made a claim because I had a problem with my garage door opener. I worked through the claim process and it was fairly easy to get to where I needed to get to. A contractor came out and did a very great job servicing it. Our garage door stopped working. I went online, submitted the claim to American Home Shield, and then they got me someone out. It was super easy. The tech from Flash Garage Door gave us two options. He said, "I'm gonna have to open it up to figure out what's going on and see. You can either just go ahead and opt for the upgrade and then it'll be 375 or we can open it up and see what happens but I can't go back and do the upgrade." We just did the upgrade. He was done really fast.
I had an issue with my air conditioner. I called up American Home Shield and they took care of everything for me, including the scheduling. Things have been working well since then. I'm quite happy with AHS.
My dryer was acting weird, making funny noises, and it wasn't working properly. The contractor responded the next day and fixed it quickly and very professionally. He had a piece of what was needed and changed it immediately. So, it was a great service and it was awesome. I did another claim with American Home Shield a week before that one for my water heater.
