I feel good about American Home Shield. With the things that we've had happen in the past, they take care of things and in a timely manner for the most part. The young man they sent out was very nice and he did the job. I also liked it that they sent somebody who was very knowledgeable. He stayed at least six feet away from us and he told us what he was gonna be doing. We let him do his thing and that way, we were all safe. I have one of those new thing with toilets where the innards aren't like what I grew up with. The inside looks like a rocket ship to me, and it wouldn't stop running. We couldn't figure out what to do. We didn't know how to fix that. So, we called American Home Shield for a plumber. The contractor couldn't come the day we called, but they came early the next morning. They fixed the problem, and it only took them like 10 minutes. They did a good job. They were professional and nice, and they put booties on too.
When my realtor asked who I wanted to use, I told him that I used American Home Shield at the first house. He then said that he'd get a kickback of $25 if I went with them and I told him to switch us to it. After I moved in, there was a leak at one of the pumps in my pool and I filed a service request with AHS. The techs they sent out worked really well. The first time Lake Plumbing came out, it was for a leak on a faucet. They had to come back and fix something on one of them but it's working fine. The tech was a very professional guy. It's easy to file a claim to American Home Shield and have somebody come out to fix our issues. It's very convenient and practical. The only ones I'm not too thrilled about is the appliance people.
American Home Shield is great. We've had several claims. The most recent was the AC unit. The process was fine. The first time the contractors came, the AC just wasn't cooling. It was when we were having a 105-degree temperature. The second time the contractors came out, I thought that there was a malfunction with the thermostat not working properly. The AC is really old and it is taking a long time to cool down the house. It hasn't been dripping. But the technician said it was gonna need to be replaced soon. He said something was clogging it and he cleaned it out. But he couldn't see the bottom of the pan. He told me to call back if it kept dripping after 72 hours. We're satisfied with American Home Shield. Recently, Sirius Plumbing came out for a handle that was replaced but was not sealed properly so water got into the walls. Everything went fine with the claim.
GE Appliances was on time and they did an excellent job. The motor had gone out in our appliance. It wasn't draining properly and they replaced the motor. It's working fine now. It was the first time that I filed a claim online and AHS sent me an appointment. They followed up and everything went according to this schedule. I was completely satisfied with the service. A home warranty seems like a waste until you need it. But I've had American Home Shield for quite a long time and it has been very useful to me.
