We've used American Home Shield a few times and we've always been happy with it. We had D & B Plumbing Service and they were great. The guy was on time and he knew what the problem was right away. He wore a mask and he was very personable. He got everything that he was supposed to do and fixed the issue.
Having a warranty is a great investment especially for the first year of your home with older appliances. Mine definitely paid for itself quickly. The claims process is straightforward too. I just submit online and then they get somebody assigned to my request and then I work with them to get some time scheduled. There was a time when my AC wasn't blowing any kind of cold air. We've had multiple claims with our HVAC system and it has always been South Placer Heating and Air except for one time. We’ve had a good experience with South Placer. They always came out and diagnosed it and usually were able to correct it that same day. When Our thermostat was out and they came and replaced it. The technician noticed that it still didn't turn on, so he went up to the furnace and did some stuff up there. It took a few minutes and then it turned on.AHS doesn't offer to cover Freon. The contractor from Air Kool that came out for our microwave was really great. He explained perfectly what was going on. He was very attentive to our questions. He fixed the problem. Now, it's working perfectly. For me, when you don't even notice the company you are working with, it's perfect. I submitted the claim on my cell phone when the problem arose. South Valley Appliance Repair was very prompt. The evening before I put in the request, the next day they called me. They asked me the health questions and they told me their procedure as far as them wearing masks and gloves. And then, they set up an appointment for that Friday. We were having different temperatures in different zones of our house even though our thermostat was set at the same number. I opened a claim on American Home Shield's website and once I submitted it, I was told that their contractor would be contacting me within 24 hours. If I felt like calling the contractor, they gave me a number to call. Using their website was great. One of my AC units wasn't cooling. We could hear buzzing and clicking when it would try to start. The inside of the unit was working fine but the outside was not. I submitted a claim to AHS and they sent AMP Mechanical. The fan that was in my unit was not to spec and it died at some point. AMP had to get one from the manufacturer and that was delivered five days later. They brought it out and fixed my AC unit. I haven't had any problems since they left. I'm happy we have coverage and I usually submit claims online by logging into the account. One time, I submitted a claim and Island Breeze HVAC came in as soon as the next available opportunity was there. The first time, it was the next day, which was very fast. On the second call, it was as soon as the hurricane was over, so it was reasonably fast as well. After they did the initial repairs, the unit stopped working again. My dishwasher started leaking on me and I called American Home Shield and submitted it over the phone. They texted me back that I'd hear from them, and then within a day, the contractor called me back and made an appointment. J and A Appliance Repair came out and replaced the pump. They were great and they were very nice people. They were friendly and professional. AHS has been good so far. They're fast and efficient.
