Its great to have and they are fast to get someone ready for you. Just wish they did something for Active Military.
I've been with American Home Shield for 10 years, and I've never had a problem with them over the years. I'm very pleased with them. For all the experiences that I had with them, I've had some serious issues and some minor issues. On the appliance repair, they picked local folks to take care of the problem. I'm in the middle of a situation now, and they've been right on top of it. They're very easy to work with. Their coverage is very well, too. We've recommended AHS, and we've sold them about four different policies.
The first time we had an issue with the AC, it was a part had gone bad and there was a hole in the hose so there was no Freon. The second time was something with the blower. It wasn't going all the way through. I put in a request with Home Shield and they responded within 15 minutes. Rush Heating and Cooling came out and they fixed that. They got down to the problem quick and they were very nice and professional. I love Home Shield.
The repairman knew exactly what to look for. He quickly found the problems and took corrective actions. He was very polite and wore a face mask when inside my house.
My American Home Shield policy has not been reviewed. No one ever contacts me and it just renews automatically. We haven't changed the policy in 15 years. That strikes me as odd that they don't reach out and recommend certain revisions to my policy. So, I really don't know if I have the right kind of coverage or there is more coverage that I should get. We had a refrigerator that was leaking. It turned out to be not a plumbing issue but it was an appliance issue. The contractor examined it thoroughly and did a good job of identifying the problem. So we're waiting for the appliance person to repair it. He has to come back with somebody else because it's a two-man job. The refrigerator is really large. It takes more than one person to get in there.
The AC went out so I called American Home Shield. They got Bencraft Mechanical to come out and the guy said he couldn't find the leak. He put some refrigerant and charged for that. He also put some dye in the refrigerant so that we could figure out if there was a leak and he said to call back. By the time he left, we had cold air and everything was going. They did what they promised and was able to repair the AC unit on the first attempt. My only concern was having to wait three business days to get someone out to the house, however, it is July in New Orleans and I know they are busy!
For my recent claim with AHS, the air condition fan burnt out and the contractors replaced it. They came back the next day. It was pretty quick. The contractors were very friendly, very professional and very informative. It’s working great now. I'm just waiting for my other claim to get finished. I have a washer that’s been out for six weeks now.
