There was an issue with the icemaker and American Home Shield sent out Midwest Marketplace. They analyzed and found out it was the pump that had the issues, and they corrected it. Submitting a claim to AHS is simple but they should increase some of the limits on what they have for items like sump pump costs to factor in more expensive homes. It should not be a generic price for all. Still, they did a good job.
When I was looking at my coverage, they list ceiling fans as being covered but that's bathroom fans, not ceiling fans. I’ve got ceiling fans in every room, plus three of them out on the patio under the patio cover. But they said I can't add that coverage until we do a new contract in February. But they've been very helpful when my wife was in hospice. Everything has been good with the contractors except for the people that we've had on the Samsung.
I love American Home Shield. I've already recommended them and I speak with everybody about them. My nephew and another friend have contracts with them. My only complaint is there are additional fees sometimes. I had to have my air conditioner unit replaced, but the people charged a $1,200 excess fee. I had a clogged drain that's way in the back, somewhere I'm not gonna be able to get to. Getting in the site and requesting the service with Home Shield was really good. Then, Gen-Tech came out and they did really well. They explained everything that could have been wrong and they went right to what they thought was the source. American Home Shield had always been efficient. The first time I called them was about the roof and that was taken care of with no issues. Then the motor on our AC went out. After four years that I've been here, this is the first time I've had issues with my air conditioner. There was a long wait to get ahold of someone ‘cause of the COVID-19, but it wasn't too bad. R&A Cooling did a great job. The air conditioning unit started leaking, which is in the attic. I went upstairs and I saw that it was leaking from the unit inside the home. The tech ended up having to install a pipe on the unit. He did it the same day, and everything's working fine so far. I'm loving having coverage with American Home Shield. I will refer them out.
We had a $900 plumbing bill so we went the next day and got a warranty with American Home Shield. It's been really good and helpful to be able to have one place to call to get all sorts of repairs done. When my AC wasn't blowing cold enough, I did a service request online. Jared, the owner of The Pool Guyz, was awesome as well as his company. I had them at the beginning of the season. They had to change the part of the motor and then the week before, they had to change out the grids in the filter. They were timely, efficient and came when they said they were gonna come. My air wasn’t cooling, and then the next day, it stopped, and I called it in to American Home Shield. I talked to somebody who let me know that they'd be sending the first available contractor. They sent Cabot Mechanical out to fix the issue. They were awesome. It’s straightened out now. The first time, there was more blockage than anticipated so I called them back out, and they got everything taken care of. I tell my friends about American Home Shield. I tell people they need it.
