Over the years I have been with multiple Home Warranty companies and AHS beats them all hands down! I learned the hard way that the others that they place requirements in fine print that help avoid them supporting your claims; beware. My experience with AHS has been superior customer service all around.
American Home Shield is all right. We have expensive things here in our condo. We have a stove as well as refrigerator. The refrigerator is a Wolf that costs $10,000, so what we worry about is if it goes kerflooey, they don't give us one of equal value. They might repair it and that'd be fine, but if they have to replace it, it's not of equal value, is it? I bought this house and part of the contract was to get a home warranty. A friend of mine had AHS for 20 years and he recommended it. It's really easy to get service calls for somebody to come and fix something and I've had several things done. This recent claim was a stopped up sink and I couldn't get the water down. I tried everything that I read to do and nothing worked. Sage Mechanical came out and the guy was great. He told me about a sink plunger, which I never knew about, and he had it unclogged in no time. We were not getting hot water with our water heater, but now, everything's working. I did the claim on the website and it was easy. Within a week or so, Anytime Home Services came out and the guy was good. He was professional.
American Home Shield has been great. I've had them since 2004, and the contractors have been absolutely great as well.
We have our thermostat set at 77 in the summer. We were out of our house for two and a half hours and when we came back in, our temperature was at 79 and climbing. We checked the condenser outside and it wasn't running. I turned the power off and on and I went back out. 10 minutes later, our condenser started running. I wanted someone to take a look to see if there was a part that we should replace or if some repair was needed. My recent claim experience where CAL-PRO went out was very good. He was in and out. He had to order the part. It took a while to get the part, but once the part came in, he called and he installed it that afternoon. He also had booties on and then he also had a mask and gloves. He was quick and he knew his stuff. When I was talking to him on the phone, what had gone wrong, he’d already known what it was. It was a circuit board on the refrigerator. I’ve used AHS twice and it worked out well.
We've had ATR Heating and Cooling for our AC issue a couple of times and recently, my husband said it went well. So far, the couple times we've called American Home Shield, it has been a pretty quick response and we've been happy with it.
I've had American Home Shield before with other houses. For the house I have now, I just renewed with them and this is my second year. I'm really happy with the service. They're doing great. Their claims process is extremely easy. I just go online and fill out the form. Sometimes the sewer line gets backed up in this house. It's a known problem.
