I'm new to Home Shield. I've been with them for less than a month. And just as coincidence would have it, two weeks after we purchased our home warranty, the motor on one of our air conditioning units went out. I got American Home Shield when I bought my house. So far, so good. I did a claim with them online for my air conditioner and their website seemed intuitive enough for me. I filled out the time and I got a follow-up. It was a text message or an email that came the next morning so I was okay with that. Someone from Third Generation Plumbing came to work on my unit. I went online and filled out the form for my AC issue. I told them what was going on and then they contacted me within the hour and had something set up for me. Dawson Services did a really good job. The tech was really professional. He came in and he did what needed to be done. He didn't try to talk me into anything extravagant.
A friend has the same service and I signed up in May. When my air conditioning unit needed to be charged, I called and the tech who came was friendly and thorough. It also didn't take him long to do his job and so far, things are working okay. This is the claim that did everything that needed to be done. I've had another claim with them for my dryer. Our claim with AHS was for a drain in the sink. The washer had worn and the pipe was leaking. So the technician that came out changed out the drain. Everything was done on the same day I submitted a claim. The technician was great. He provided outstanding customer service and outstanding work. Everything is okay right now. American Home Shield reacted very quickly. I have nothing but good things to say about American Home Shield and the plumbing service.
We had a claim with the igniter for the stove and the contractor was here within three days. The parts were covered, but we had to pay the $75 fee for the appointment. We had one other claim where the evap coil was leaking. It was gonna end up costing us $1200 and some dollars for a replacement on our cost to get whatever part that American Home Shield would have given us as part of the coverage. The AC unit inside the home was leaking down in the basement. I logged online and submitted a claim. The website was easy enough to use. Then, I was given 24 hours to expect Knight Heating & Air Conditioning. They were very good in answering every question I had. But I'm not entirely sure the situation has been completely fixed. A week after the repair, there was still a little bit of leakage and I kind of fixed it on my own but I'm a little worried that it's gonna come back.
We have unfortunately had to use our warranty service 4 times since we purchased it. That being said we couldn't be happier. Each time they have sent someone quickly and the problem was taken care of. We have saved a huge amount of money by not having to pay for the repairs. A small service fee and that's it. The warranty has more than paid for itself. We also do not worry if the repairmen is reputable. A great piece of mind.
