American Home Shield is a ripoff. Don't buy a warranty from them unless you read the entire contract. On the surface, they lead you to believe they will repair or replace anything that is covered but this isn't accurate. The amount of money they allow is miniscule compared to the actual cost of a major replacement or repair. You would be far better off putting the monthly fee into a home repair account. Given time, you would hopefully have more money on hand to cover a major repair, or replacement, than they would ever allow... read more

Our A/C has been broken for 3 weeks, we live in Phoenix, Az with temperatures above 110 and American Home Shield will not replace our A/C!! My mother is 75 and I have Type 1 Diabetes!! If you want to live STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!! There is this little company with an acronym, BBB I think it's time to give them a call!!
I have nothing positive to say about this company. I had their service for my home for over 6 years. My furnace blew on Christmas Eve. I called and they did not have any technician in the area to service my location. They gave me approval to find my own technician. I finally found someone to come to my house 4 weeks later!! No contractor I spoke with was willing to work with them. Finally, when the contractor came out, we did the prior auth process and I scheduled them to return the next day to install the new furnace. Been with American home shield for almost 15 years ...called out a plumber ..of course American Home Shield did take my service fee money .....plumber came out did nothing ....repeat did nothing ...still took my service money ....no refund or so sorry ...nothing American Home Sheild sucks .....why ....i called to get service fee back ...nothing ...then i go to cancel service with American Home Sheild ...charged me 79 dolllars to cancel ....wtf

Extremely difficult to get authorization to replace 30 year old equipment. They are more about fix it then replace it.

I open a request back in may for AC after many days and weeks no one fixed the AC Airmax to this day none died my ac I got a call from AHS and was told I could cancel the request and AHS would refund the payment of cost of getting ac . Today is July 18 no ac no refund I would not request refund AHS did not tell me that was a option. I will not recommend AHS to friends or family
