The customer service is awful. The hold time on calls are 2 hours and then you are disconnected. You rarely get to speak to a live person or anyone here in the USA. The technicians they use are rude and are not who they say they are.

Bottom Line Up Front: Custom Service is a ZERO out of TEN. Main issue is Representatives are outsourced overseas, leading to miscommunication between Customer and Representative and mischarges in favor of American Home Shield. Others: $75 per home visit call per item (i.e.: Can't send a handy-man to repair electrical appliance and another (those are two calls or $150). If I could give this company no stars I would. American Home Shield is by far the worst warranty company, I've never been so frustrated trying to resolve a issue with a bunch of incompetent unprofessional people who don't know what they are doing. They want money money money up front but take forever to fix the problem at hand. I absolutely HATE this company!

I have over 2500 sq ft home with a 80 gallon hot water tank. AHS will only replace a my 80 gal with a 50 gal . It is going on 2 weeks waiting on customer service to provide details and compensation for the difference. Old tank is not repairable and now we are stuck waiting on AHS.

I've had several issues with my HVAC and the Memphis, Tennessee office has not listened to the customer at all and has not been cooperative and I sent an email and they sent my email back to me. Very unsatisfied and paid completely out of pocket for the entire system to be replaced. AHS has poor customer service!

Hot water heater went out. I live in large city. Closest plumbing contractor is 40 miles away. Took 6 days for them to come out just to 'assess' the problem. Then AHS tells me I will have to pay another $630.00 on TOP of my deductable! I HAVE to buy their accessory parts. ($100.00 for a $36.00 flex gas line...etc..) Parts came in, now have to wait another 6 days to install. No hot water for 12 days. Same issue when A/C went out during 10 consecutive 100+ degree days. Took AHS 5 days to repair A/C. In a recent call I was on hold for more than 2 hours and was unable to speak to an agent. The resolution for my issue is not on the web site therefore I must speak to an agent for a resolution.

two years a go I had my AC compresser lock up and kicked the main breaker called American home shield they sent out a tec. told him that the compresser had a dead short the rest of the unit worked payse the $75 copay . the tec tills me I need a electrician and leaves week later the Electrician shows up checks the wiring till me that the AC unit has a short charges me $75 co pay and leves then the AC guy come out in a week later and checks over the unit a tills me that the compressor is bad and will need to get approver from ... read more
