Customer service most of the time I called, was Awful. I got different answers of what was covered by different people. It was very difficult to understand most agents because they are from foreign countries. The only things I needed covered was my electric baseboard heaters, but because the problem was more than just replacing the baseboard heaters, (which is only about $150-350), and it involved power to the thermostat they refused to cover it. We have had luck with minor repairs. When our water heater went out the company they send damages our ceiling and ignored us that was not their responsibility to fix. Then our AC went out. We paid the 75 dollar service fee plus 160.00 for a fix that lasted less than a month. The second visit from the company that American Home Shield contracts with came back out and it has been almost 2 weeks and the only communication we can get is if I call myself. I have tried to have services covered through AHS, all of which claim to be covered under warranty but have not had anything actually covered. My worst experience is with the water heater replacement, my out of pocket cost was still going to be $1300. Calling around on my own I can have the full thing replaced for $1200 without insurance, so what exactly did they cover? The worst company I've ever dealt with. They do not cover anything. They said they cover water heater, a big NOPE. Had to pay $800. They said they cover rekey, not accurate as the company that came out to rekey charged an additional $90 on top of the $75 service call fee, which if I knew in the beginning, I would rekeyed myself. Additionally, the company does call back with follow-ups to any disputes or concerns. Too bad I don't drink alcohol, this is a 6 martini story as well When I originally signed up with AHS, I had a few minor appliance and AC problems over the span of a couple of years. I had no problems getting a qualified American Home Shield contractor to fix whatever was wrong. In June 2018 my air conditioner had a problem with the unit freezing up. American home shield sent A &R Complete Service out to repair my air-conditioning unit when it failed a few weeks ago. The first time they came out I was advised a circuit breaker had popped and everything is fine. Within eight hours the unit had failed again. Obviously they didn’t bother to diagnose the actual cause of the circuit breaker tripping. I called them the second time. Had to wait another 48 hours for them to show up and look at the unit again. I call this company a LEGAL SCAM. I even fail to understand how they are allowed to remain in business. My A/C has not been working for more than a month now. This unit is 16 years old. The compressor is blown and the coils are leaking. I have put Freon in this unit a couple of times (Everyone must know that they don't pay for freon). Its an out of pocket expenses (approx $700 every time). Their contractor came in and told me that the compressor is blown and they will have to order a new part. I have a samsung refrigerator ahs has sent contractors out 4 times . When contractor was diagnosing fridge with Samsung engineer on phone I ask to talk with Samsung. And told them to come out with there technician he got me a onetime exstension in warranty for diagnostic and proposed repair , long story short I would of saved 400$ if I had a properly trained technician that American home shield provide d,I’m for people making money but I think there needs to be a line drawn between right and wrong AND THE REPLY from AHS on w... read more
