This company claims they will cover appliances and and home systems when they fail or something goes wrong. They tell you you pay a certain amount monthly and then a service fee once you make a claim and they will handle it from there, but this is not the case at all! American Home Shield is a disaster to work with. This is especially true with large or expensive items such as HVAC. We still had to pay thousands of dollars out of pocket, but use the vendors they are affiliated with who are rated F by the BBB. It took 2 months without AC until new units were finally installed. I have an upgraded plan and they do not want to cover my AC repair. Been a customer for over 6years. Very disappointed that they want me to pay an additional 700.00 to repair my AC unit. This is the 2nd time this has happened

We have had them for years and for appliances they have been great. However, when it comes to heating and air their choice of contractors leaves something to be desired. We have in the past 3 years have had instances requiring the services of a heating and air company through AHS which has proved to be a complete mess. My microwave caught fire the day before Thanksgiving!!!! They have sent out 2 different people and both are saying something different!! No one follows up unless you call them. Now on my only day off I’m waiting a 3rd time for someone to diagnose the problem. Meanwhile I have no microwave. I received a 1 year home warranty when I purchased my house. It was great until it was time to renew. I contacted the company 2 months before it was see to expire. I renewed and they immediately debitted my account. I called back to ask why I was paying on a policy that wasn't in effect yet. They told me it was a renewal fee. What a load of garbage! I tried explaining to the rep that I had not been told about the fee but she was unhelpful and unable to refund my money.

This happened the week of Memorial Day 2019. This company would allow the customer to speak to a supervisor at any time; customer service reps always pretended to put us on hold and after 15 min waiting call automatically disconnected; this happened on 4 occasions.
