AHS pays as little as possible, will find any reason not to pay and each year the coverage dwindles as the rates increase. I am strongly considering cancelling.

I had a service call on my (warranty-covered) washing machine. The technician from a local appliance repair company came out and identified a couple of parts that needed to be replaced, and said that this information would be forwarded to AHS. AHS then decided on their own that the machine had been abused/overloaded, and thus the repair was not covered by the warranty. Note that this was a determination made by AHS, not by a technician who physically inspected the machine. AHS thus refuses to pay for repairs to the machine. ... read more

Hi my name is Troy. I am having a bad experience with AHS. This my second time calling about my a.c.. The 1st time when they came he only put stop leak in. Even I knew that was not going to work. I had to pay $100 service call and $35.00 per lbs for coolant. Total cost to do nothing $300.00. Less than 5 months later guess what...a.c. not working again due to same issue. I been told them that it needs a new Evaporator Coil. If I do a cash out AHS wants to give me $315.00 to for a new one when real cost is $950.00. Now I have ... read more

My AC broke down and it took a week to get a service visit, then it took another week for them to get the part because American Home Shield apparently has to be the one to order the part and then mail it to the service provider. This is ridiculous! I can’t imagine having a baby in the house, my bulldog can barely take it and stays in the basement fresh. I can’t imagine this happening in the winter with my heater. can't trust the service being done, Had work done in winter that caused another fee in the spring because of per workmanship.

The service professional's work was great. However, the service reps for home shield were hard to understand and they didn't seem to grasp what the repair entailed. It ended up not being covered after a couple of phone calls from service techs that said they didn't do that work. It was frustrating. The garage door issue was handled promptly, tho.

This is the worst company i have ever dealt with in my entire life. I do not know how they are not shut down yet. American Home Shield is a complete SCAM. Most of these positive reviews are FAKE and PAID for. Think its odd for every bad review 4-5 good ones pop up? Super generic reviews with no detail? ALL FAKE!!! AHS is a scam and they will do everything they can to NOT fix issues. I hope AHS gets sued for every penny they are worth and are shut down. Someone needs to investigate this scam company.

I have complained to American Home Shield about the poor quality of service from their contractor and the issue has still not been resolved. I have had four visit from the contactor to fix my AC. Today the unqualified service worker came and improperly diagnosed my issue. He left before even seeing whether or not his recommendation would actually help the AC to cool. He was unprofessional and did not leave any documentation of his recommendations in writing. I am currently dissatisfied with American Home Shield.

I've been a member for years. My water heater started leaking in November 2019. AHS sent me their plumber who had terrible yelp reviews. I ended up putting in the new water heater myself. AHS said they would send me a check for $600 to pay for my water heater only. I've made calls to AHS shield every other week since November 2019 and they still haven't paid. I wish I didn't pay my membership advance or I'd go to another company.
