Very disappointed with customer service. Many hours spent on hold. Calls never escalated or returned. All responses are poorly read from script by foreign call center. Odd that a company named American Home Shield outsourcing calls. Customer service is unable to transfer calls. Whoever answers is the only person you will talk to. Never ending circle of please hold. Week 6 of trying to get our fridge fixed.

Save your money and NEVER get AHS warranty. They are a terrible unhelpful company and you are much better off just paying to have a good contractor fix your issue.

I have had American Home Shield for the past 2 years. The first year was great. I had several repairs from broken downstairs a/c, to leaking pipes, to broken (almost electrical fire) microwave. I also pay additional for pool coverage. I paid my service fees, highly rated contractors came out in a timely manner, and I received good customer service even when I had to "argue" my case for coverage (and at times was denied). It's purely the luck of the draw with this group. They will eventually pay for legit claims but you have to do most of the follow-up with the tech as well as AHS. If you let the "process" play itself out it could be days for repairs and weeks for a replacement. The majority of customer service reps are indeed reading from a script, not empowered to make decisions or solve problems and don't totally understand English as many have pointed out. AHS has the worst customer service. Expect to be on hold for over a half hour before you can speak with someone. They route the calls to The Philippines. They send out contractors that do not know what they are doing. I had to have several recalls due to bad contractors. In addition, AHS sent out a contractor to my house for an item that was not covered. The AHS rep who wrote the work order wrote down the wrong item after I explained in great detail what needed to be fixed. AHS refused to refund my $75.00 service fee when it... read more

I made a service request 3 days ago. I am still waiting to be contacted by a service professional. I will take time out of my day tomorrow to find contact repair services. I tried to contact American Home Shield but they are closed (it's 9pm). I guess I should have taken time out of my work day to try and do the job I am paying the monthly fee to them to do.

American Home Shield may be good for some things but don't buy with the expectations of quick service when you AC goes out in mid July (100°+ Weather). We had to wait over a week for one of their "Approved Vendors" to confirm my AC compressor had in fact failed. I waited patiently for over a week in the hottest part of summer and they denied my claim on a 15 year old 5 ton Lennox outdoor evaporator unit stating it was not installed to manufacture specifications. First of all, they renewed my contract at a higher price without ever contacting me. Secondly, they sent a contractor with an "F" rating with the Better Business Bureau to my home. This is the second time they suggested a repairman with an "F" rating. When I refused to use this contractor, they only offered me $435.00 for a water tank and installation, which is less than I would have had to pay their crappy plumber out of pocket. We have had AHS for 7 years had only 3 claims put in and 3 claims denied for various reasons that they chose. To give you an example our heater to our pool went out and they said they wouldn't fix it because it was due to the exposure outside hum heater to the pool where else would you put it in the laundry room. We finally had enough and canceled our contract now they want a cancellation fee. They can take it out of the 10,080 that we have given them and got nothing in return but excuses.
