Zero stars. WORST customer service from off-shore call center. Contractors they send out try to extort money for “uncovered” parts and then refuse to do the job. Can not ever talk to anyone. Awful Awful Awful Wish zero was an option

Business response:

Hi Tom, I hate to hear about your most recent experience and the non covered cost. I would be glad to speak with you and get the issue resolved.

The only thing this company is good for is charging my debt card each month for its service! Run don’t walk away from this company. Imagine calling AMERICAN home shield and getting Laurence from the Philippians, who can’t speak clear English and could careless if I have a broken AC. Our worlds contrast too much, they don’t get it! I’m appalled and I will be canceling my service immediately! Terrible waste of $700. Don’t even think about it.

Business response:

Hi Adriane, Thank you for sharing feedback about your most recent service experience to have an issue repaired. I would be glad to speak with you about the issue.

After AHS plumbers and installers have been to the house 4 times, we paid a plumber $175. to install a basic dishwasher over one that had many more features. Over9 hours were spent on the phone, often with no results and 1 time to be hung up on. Hers and his plumbing failed miserably in their installation efforts. Very dissatisfied with AHS and subs which put much unneeded stress on an 82 year old woman.

Business response:

Hi Betty, We’re sorry to hear of your less than satisfactory experience and hope you will allow us a chance to make things right. I would be glad to speak with you at your earliest convenience.

I purchased a home 3 months ago and so far have placed to claims in with AHS. The first ticket was for a pipe leaking in my wall. The plumber came and was able to stop the leak after putting two decent holes in the wall. Glad it’s not leaking but AHS offered me $120 reimbursement if I use a vendor I find myself. I live in a remote area and if their large team with full time employees can’t find someone to patch walls at that rate, what is the chance I can? Zero! Next is my water heater went out. I’ve gotten what feels like a... read more

This company is a joke. Do not settle for a home warranty like this if you are purchasing a new home instead of the seller fixing items. We found a leak with a pipe in the wall that led to water damage to the framework in the wall, insulation, and the drywall. After calling and scheduling a plumber to come out he came and repaired the pipe, but that's it. No additional work. Which led to another phone call to AHS to have the rest of the work done. I explained what work I needed done and the employee set me up with a separate... read more

I’ve found my American Home Shield warranty to be excessively expensive and to provide little or no actual coverage for things that have gone wrong in my new house. I’m grateful for the good intentions that my new house builder showed in paying $1,025 for the warranty contract I've had since 25 January 2019. I might have renewed that warranty if I’d had good experience with service requests and if the price for renewal hadn’t been increased to $1,657.00. My first service need was when the recorder/control box for the house's... read more

I have three townhouses and a home insured with AHS. Had all three AC go out on the townhouses during the heat of the summer. It was easy to file a claim. The AC folks took several days to get out but understandable due to hot weather. But they had the AC going quickly. One of the townhouse had the tankless water heater go out. The plumber came out and advised they had to order a new unit. It has been a week and no word from the plumber. Interesting in that the plumber send me a text at 9:04 am advising a technician was on t... read more

We have been paying American Home Shield a monthly premium for 6 years. We purchased a Model Home 6 years ago that was 10 years old and the warranty came with it, so we continued. Even though the appliances hadn't really been used, they were still 10 years old so we thought it was best to keep a warranty in the event of something catastrophic happening. We have had a couple of small air conditioning repairs and old breakers replaced....which is interesting to note...even though all the electricians that AHS have sent out hav... read more

Poorly vetted, incompetent plumbing vendor. AHS does not put customer first. Customer service reps are terrible.

Business response:

Hi Janet, Your concerns regarding the warranty coverage are essential for American Home Shield to use for improvement. I would be glad to speak with you and discuss the plumbing contractor that serviced your request.
