Horrible organization, 6 months 3 providers to fix AC and 600$ out of pocket, now water heater they can't even find a plumber.

DO NOT EVER use American Home Shield!!! Long story, but simple version is: Our HVAC has bit the dust. Its 21 years old. I called on July 1st. It took 2 days to even get a phone call back. 3 days later, they come diagnose the problem. Well, guess what, they can “bandaid” it again so they order a part that takes another 5-7 days. We are on July 15th with 85 degrees in our house, 15 days past the first day I called, and they still somehow don’t have the part. We have been waiting 3 weeks since our refrig went down. Finally, yesterday the tech determined that it was a compressor and needs to be replaced. Calling and keep getting disconnected from the purchasing dept. Everyone is in a panic about food during this time, try living out of a cooler with 2 kids and 2 adults....not cool!

Bad response - no call backs, contractor CLOSED on weekends! I had my dishwasher spewing water all over my floor a day before Christmas (when I was hosting dinner!). Called to get service, scheduled for "between 1 and 5" with a promise that the contractor would call me the morning of to confirm. NO phone call (I called them and they confirmed that it would be between 3 and 5 and that a technician would call me when he was on his way). They have been so horrible to work with. My heater has been broken for over two weeks. The first technician who was supposed to come was cancelled and no one can give me a definitive reason why. The second was the wrong type of repair man. The third just didn't really know what was wrong. This might all be forgivable if there was any customer service. At every step there has been a delay. It would be nice if they take care of the customers! i have a water heater problem for almost a month and still can't get hot water for my kids to take a shower!!!! that's really BAD

I have only had to use them 2 times since we have lived in the home. And part of what was needed to be done wasnt covered both times. Its helpful to have but I wish they covered more services.

This company really misrepresents itself as a safety net for home repairs. I had this home warranty "forced" when I bought a house earlier this year. The realtor insisted that AHS was a good company and they do legitimately repair or replace items when needed. I contacted them regarding water leak and to their credit, I did get a plumber in a timely manner - two business days after contacting AHS. However, the plumber immediately began criticizing AHS and basically said they would not allow him to repair anything behind shee... read more
