I have been a customer with American Home Shield since the purchase of my home in April 2014. The purchase of a basic warranty was made by the sellers of the home and I upgraded to their most expensive and comprehensive package believing all future repairs would be covered in the instance the worst occurred i.e. appliance malfunction or plumbing issue. Waste of money and time stay away, we have a plumbing cloggage, to send a plumber they charge us $100 then the plumber said need $900 to instal cap on the pipe to clean it and that not covered by the warranty, I told him by the phone that there is a cap we paid for that 5 years ago so he didn’t come back, I called American Home shield told them that they said we can send another company but if it same report we will charge another $100 so I agreed since I’m far and the family living there, they sent another company the cane ... read more

Unbelievable! I just had a faulty leaking hose bibb replaced and they didn't install the hose bibb back flow preventer. It is code that this has to be done. I call American Homesheild and they tell me that it will be an additional fee for this to be code compliant. Wow the old one had one on it, and its code. Why wouldn't it be replaced to code? So does this mean they can send anyone and not do the work per code?

After reading everyones reviews my experience has been the same. July 1 Accord Appliance came out to look at my oven which is not working. The said the needed to order the part. Which I found really strange because on my paperwork they don't even have the model or serial number of the oven. Well a week later I hear nothing. So I go to AHS website and the claim is closed. Please run, do not pay this company any money. I am dealing with a broken refrigerator since May 22nd. The first time i believe I was without my fridge for I believe 5 to 6 days. The second time I was without a refrigerator for 2-1/2 weeks. Went out again last Thursday, it is now Monday and nothing has been done. I had an appointment last Friday between 10-1 and they didn't show. My AC went out 23 days ago, I called AHS and started the process of getting my AC fixed. It took a week before the tech came out to take a look at the unit. I waited 2 weeks for the single part to fix it and for the tech to come out and fix it, I’m now at day 22. The tech came out and was about to install the part and discovered it was the wrong part! Very inconsistent. No follow up terrible contractors.
They sent someone out to my home who had no idea what they were doing. I went the entire winter without heat because of them.

In a word , this is a terrible company. They send a contractor out to inspect my AC. The contractor provides me a courtesy copy of his estimate that he is sending to AHS. I then call AHS to say I'm going to us my own contractor, but send me a check based on the contractor AHS sent out, AHS then reduces the amount of their contractor's estimate, which was already much lower then my contractors estimate.
