They send a plumber who refused to even attempt to fix the problem and just shifted the blame to the contractor. Had to have another plumber come and fix it. It was not the contractor's fault. I contacted the company to complain and was told I would be issued a refund. When the refund did not post, I contacted the company and was told they changed their mind and would not be offering a refund. Please do not waste your money on this company.

Business response:

Hi Jace, I hate to hear about your most recent experience and the service fee refund of your American Home Shield claim. I would be glad to speak with you and get the issue resolved.

My water heater stopped working and after waiting 1 hr 17 minutes on the phone I was able to catch hold of a customer care executive of American Home Shield. AHS sent a technician to fix my water heater on 12/18. The technician did a quick fix and left. The very next day, water heater stopped working again, after calling the technician, his company asked me to pay $150 to fix the issue. AHS charged me $75 as service charge and the vendor charged me $150. Total I had to pay $225. This is utter non sense. I have taken the insu... read more

customer service lacks of training. i first called them 10/12 when i dropped a pot on my glass cooktop. because changes in their practices , i wanted to make sure the accident was covered. i was told yes after waiting for over 27 minutes for an agent and then 15 more minutes for her to review my contract: so after her review she said it was covered and open the service request and was charged the $75. Repairman came 4 days later. He called me 11/1 to tell me that he submitted the paperwork but was waiting on AHS. Well first,... read more

We've had the service for about 6 years, during which time we've had 5 calls, 2 A/C, 2 refrigerator and the last a failed water heater. The first 4 were handled wonderfully and this last one, also the most costly, beyond terrible. The tech looked at our drooling water heater and said our OUT OF POCKET would be between $500 and $1,000. Sure enough, after contacting AHS, the contractor (Prime Plumbing) came back with a quote of $850 to replace our water heater BUT they GAVE me a $350 discount bringing the OOP down to $500! Woo... read more

After my friend past away his spouse paid for this American Home Sheild to cover his appliances. They are supposed to cover all appliance repairs for your home 🏡 . Well I unfortunately got one of those models that has a known unfixable defect that causes the icemaker to stop making ice because, it freezes up. I told the tech that I fallowed instructions from the internet on how to defrost the icemaker to get it to work. It would work for a month and freeze back up again. The so called technician American Home Sheild sent th... read more

They are taking care of my refrigerator for more than 3 months now. It is still broken the way it was, when I first called and asked to repair it.

Business response:

Good afternoon Alex, I hate to hear that you are experiencing some delays in getting this resolved but will be happy to partner with you to reach a resolution.

Absolutely the worst customer service! I tried to get 2 faucets repaired. Repairman told me they had to order parts. I waited a month and AHS told me that they had to get approval. I called in 4 more times and got nowhere. Months went by then AHS told me I had to put in a new work order and pay another $100. DO NOT use AHS!!! Buy another warranty.

Business response:

Good afternoon John, I would like to thank you for sharing your most recent experience to have the faucets repaired. I understand your frustration with several week's delays in service. I would be glad to speak with you and reach a resolution.

The WORST experience - DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY. Their service is designed to avoid paying you. I lost a day of my life, without heat or electricity for my family for 24 hours because of AHS incompetence. And now they're making it impossible for me to collect payment for the service fee. I arrived at a vacation home in snow country on a Friday afternoon to find the power off. I waited on hold for 20+ minutes to report the problem, only to have my call dropped by the agent. I was finally able to report the problem online & rece... read more
