Waited on hold for 2 1/2 hours to complain to a manager about their unprofessional contractor's claims that my sink was repaired even though the contractor never showed up to my residence. I have a home security system that did not record any such visit alleged by the contractor. AHS will not refund me my $100 deductible nor will they reprimand the contractor. I'm cancelling my contract with AHS and would strongly advise anyone considering this company to stop and go with some one else. Oh. after waiting on hold for over 2 1... read more

We were provided with a home warranty as part of the sale of the home. Within 3 months the water heater was leaking and required a replacement. Despite most all items to be replaced were explicitly covered by the contract, the plumbing contractor told us that as part of their replacement they needed to replace non-covered items. The contractor required us to pay for replacement of items that were clearly not damaged such as water line, gas connections, and vents. I had a policy with American Home Shield that I wanted to cancel. The problem is, that when you call for a new policy you will speak to an operator fluent in English. After that, day or night , if it is not sales related, you will deal with an offshore operator that is not fluent in English, If your call is not logged, the company will accuse you of being untruthful and tell you they will pull call logs to verify what you are saying. When we purchased our current home, we were encouraged to sign up for a home warranty service. American Home Shield was recommended to us by our realtor. This was because we knew that certain things in the house - plumbing, HVAC, etc. - would likely need repairs along the way and having this warranty, we were told, would help keep the cost down. In the beginning I thought this was a fantastic company. They seemed very good and on top of any issue I had. That was until I was having heating issues. For the last 2 months, during what seemed the coldest days of winter, I’ve needed the heating company to come out and fix my heater. Phone call after phone call totaling literally hours on the phone with AHS, I have yet to have my heater fixed. Very disappointed when trying to call the billing department with AHS. I get placed on hold for 25-35 minutes then my call goes straight to someone's voicemail. I have previously called twice before for the same issue-getting billed for something I have already paid. The last two times, I was told a backlog in billing and not to worry then another bill comes in the mail. Seems like once you sign up, there's not any customer service or anyone to answer any questions.

On top of the annual fee (about $450 a year), we pay $75 for a visit if something breaks. We paid it once when the microwave had a small and inexpensive part break, and again when our washer stopped working correctly. So, we've paid about $600 for one year to have an inexpensive part replaced on the microwave. We are now over 6 weeks without an oven because AHS keeps having contracted technician try new parts, with 10-14 days between 3 technician visits and each time requiring me to take a full day off of work to wait in the "8-5" window for service. Was told one week ago that if the next part didn't arrive within 48 hours and fix the problem, oven would be replaced. The part arrived but didn't work. Yesterday I signed up online. Decided I had made a mistake. The next day I called to cancel. After explaining to one representative, my call was forwarded to the cancellation department. I was on the line for 30 minutes, hung up, called again, told ONLY the cancellation department could help. ANOTHER 45 minutes of waiting, then the call was dropped. THIS IS NOT a good company.
