After 3 months and 1 week my range is still not completly repaired and no action on AHS part. After 2 months and 1 week my refridgerator has not been repaired at all and no response on AHS part. All they can tell me is sorry sorry sorry but nothing is getting done. Very poor service.
I have been a customer for 6+ years and the last 2 service requests I have placed have taken over an hour each time. Please don't be fooled by the commercials! I currently have 2 properties insured with AHS. However, after 26 years of paying a good amount of money to the company and out of pocket to other contractors and being forced to pay even more to maintain units and appliances that are no longer worth repairing or risking illness to keep them, I have decided to discontinue my contracts with AHS. When u need our business u r very polite. But when we go for a claim , look at the way customer service behave. And the contractor you send us they think they r the best and their word is final. I had called for light fixture and the contractor wrote in the report that the whole house was flooded and that he will not touch any thing much less he knew the next day the contract plumber came and he did not find any thing wrong with the plumbing and there was no water leaking, and this was a home shield contractor . I have had American Home Shield for several years. During the hottest months in the summer, it is impossible to get a repair for your AC unit. I have paid out of pocket and also have waited 2 months for a service call for both heat and air. The last straw is my account was deducted 100.00 for no reason and have not been able to get it back after a month. Customer service is non-existent with this company.
Scheduling and paying for initial service call is easy. BECAUSE THEY GET PAID! Even though the support calls are rarely taken by people who speak a recognizable language. Seriously, you are way better off finding your own service/repair company than you will be using this service. And you will save money.

Read the sample contract on their website. They offer the most cost effective replacements that will not be the same as the appliance or system they are replacing. For example, if your 5 ton 18 Seer Trane A/C system needs replaced, they will replace it with an off brand 14 Seer unit using the cheapest contractor they can find.

I recently canceled my warranty with AHS as had no AC since November of 2018. I called them and they sent out a company from Melbourne which is about 2 hours away form my home town of Stuart. They returned 3 times and diagnosed my problem being evaporator coil. After 3 times they said the problem wasn't accessible. Another company sent a technician and I still was without AC in March. 3 weeks and still no resolution to a broken dishwasher. Technician took one week to arrive, another week for the diagnosis and another week for a technician to show up with parts only to tell us that they don't have the parts to fix it and there are multiple issues that need to be fixed and it will cost more to fix than replace. Most painful customer experience I have ever witnessed and no accountability to fix in a timely manner.
