Absolutely horrible company. Impossible to reach anyone by telephone. Rates keep increasing but no benefit for increase.

It seems that this company has declined in the last several years. Their coverages have shrunk and their costs have risen. There is no guarantee that you can get service should you have an emergency. And there is little care by the service provider that you can't contact anyone. From the fees, they charge per month and the service fees one would be better to save the money for a rainy day instead of wasting on folks that couldn't care less about their customers. I've been with the company for well over a decade. Sadly they d... read more

Plus: requesting service online is easy. Negative: delays in getting onsite repair scheduled, delays in AHS approval of repairs to the contractor, delays in ordering parts as AHS directs this. Also, most contractors have been good. However; when a contractor didn’t drain my water heater and caused more damage from the leak, I called AHS for a new contractor with 45 min hold time, the new contractor drained it then and AHS charged me for 2 contractor visits. The phone support was rude when I called to dispute (hold time 45 mi... read more

I've been a member of AHS for over ten years and have benefit greatly from my warranty contract with them. There have been a few incidents where their selection of service technicians are in questioned. I have had conflicts with initial service visit payment, in which I had to send to AHS the honored pay stub from the bank as proof of payment. After 10 years of membership, I find this somewhat disturbing and insulting. However, it would seems that I was not alone in this conflict, AHS has recently given its members the optio... read more

I'm generally an easy customer to please. Just perform the service you promise as you promised it. I don't go out of my way to write reviews but in this case I have to major complaints: 1. Customer service experience with American Home Shield over the past month has been dreadful. I’ve had two different experiences of hour long plus waits to speak with either inexperienced or powerless customer service agents that were unable to assist me. I had a poor experience with a contractor and figured maybe I could request my case be... read more

I would give AHS a zero if I could. I have a plumbing repair that is still not finished from about a month a go. I paid the $75.00 service fee already. The owner of the plumbing company said that he needed to order a part that would take a few days to receive. I never heard back!

Called several times, most times took awhile before speaking with customer service. I chose to have work done by a different repair company, was a bit disappointed the allowance was $300 less and I submitted my receipt over 3 weeks ago and still have not received reimbursement

Average repair time is four weeks and calling customer service takes at least an hour on hold. I have had a broken washer machine for three weeks and received a letter that the problem was resolved. When I called I was on hold for two hours, only to talk to someone that promised to call be back. Never received that call!
